I am a new member too. I live here in Perth with my husband and two fur-babies. I am a bit taken back because the same photo that I use on FB has appeared, I don't know how that happened. The photo is of my Burmese who was very, very sick a couple of years back. He had the cats mutated coronavirus, FIP. Normally it is fatal but we were able to find treatment that saved his life. I gave him 85 injections. After, he finished the course of injections he had to serve a period of three months before he was declared cured. Now he is a very healthy boy.
I have just left my job of 6 and a half years. I got to the stage with continued mask wearing it was too much. Wearing the mask for too long damaged my left eye permanently so I had to make a decision. I have glaucoma, my eye specialist was not happy as he had done a lot of work on my eyes to save my eyesight.
I am currently studying the Tarot and find it a great tool for my ongoing personal growth.
I look forward to getting to know people on this site.
Blessing,
Dhyani

Introducing myself:
I have a great, supportive family and friends. I'm in a Seniors Social Group and we gad about all over the place. I'm also in a craft group. I've even joined the local Senior Citizens Centre. I can't believe I'm this age already!
At home you'll find me reading, knitting, crocheting, sewing, scrap-booking and card making. I potter around in my two raised garden beds growing my favourite vegetables. In the 150cm (6") gap between fence and retaining wall I grow herbs, lavender and strawberries.
I grew up in an isolated area where there was no social life except for school, so was taught these things to keep me out of mischief.
I have a physical disability, I never registered with NDIS or any Disability Agency prior to NDIS and find that there is very little support at my age.
I rely on some At Home Care and help from family and friends.
As a friend once told me, "I can do anything, I just need help with the impossible."
With help I get my impossible done for me.
Though I won't be Parachuting or Bungy Jumping in the future. If I'd wanted to, I would have done that when I was a third of the age I am now, if the opportunity had ever risen.
I have a weird sense of humour.
I'm happy to be a part of this group and learning new things, thank you for accepting me.
Sincerely,
"Mauvehaze"

I'm new, read the rules and I'm ready to post. :) I'm a fairly new citizen, one year, and I'm still kicking around getting my bearings here. I don't know alot of people because Covid hit and that took 2 years away from all of us. We are finally able to get out a bit and I can re-aquaint myself with some of my old haunts. I still have a few friends who visit and that's good. I'm handicapped so it slows me down a bit. NDIS doesn't recognize the elderly so there isn't much help, but I manage. The shire I'm in has decided not to continue with My Aged Care in June and they say we will have a "not for profit" take over. We still haven't heard anything about it which is a concern.

Hi all - new member here, and decided to join due to newsletters covering the rise of high value scams and online safety. I'm ex-ADF IT/Security (over 40 years) and being consulted over scams in progress in my personal network really burns me that these scum are getting away with it.
Especially now scams are increasingly targeting individuals for 6 figure sums in a single instance.
Most people really only do homework on this after they have been touched personally.

So to everyone in this community I would encourage you to get ahead of these vile people and spend a few minutes going over the Government eSafety for Seniors information and short "training" packages to be better informed before doing that large online transaction/transfer or entering new Banking business...
eSafetyseniors

The only way to get ahead of this is to become better educated, and also if you think you are in the middle of an issue, reach out to someone competent you really trust to assist you. Scamwatch is the other good place to check to be aware of how scammers are currently fleecing people - Aus Govt Scamwatch Site

If it smells fishy, is unexpected, or you are just unsure, please stop, and talk to someone you know. And if you believe you have been scammed talk to a trusted expert ASAP, and don't use any of your usual devices until they have been checked and cleared of anything malicious....

Take care out there :)
