After l lost my 1st husband at only 24. My dad said a year later. One day we will look back on this time and find things to laugh at. It was true years later we'd laugh about funny things we did or he said. Time heals

'Best piece of advice' competition - Share your best advice and you could win $100

Members! It's (finally) time for another competition!

This month, we're looking for the best piece of advice you've ever received OR that you've given. Did your mum tell you to wash behind your ears or always eat your vegetables? Perhaps the advice was to be kind to strangers. We want to hear from you.

The top answer will win a $100 voucher to (your choice) of either Woolies, Coles, IGA or ALDI. We plan to run this competition until the end of October.

Happy writing! We can't wait to read all your wonderful advice!

Many years ago when my children were young and the house was upside down, my neighbours mother told me to Make the beds, do the dishes and your housework is done.

Life always has a fork in the road. What ever road you take do not look back as there is another ahead. If you say I should have taken the other you will be miserable because you do not know that you would be better off. So enjoy the roads you have taken and enjoy life for what choices you have made.

The best way to save is:- divide your spending into three columns.
Have to $. Need to $. Left over $$.
Have to, are all expenses that are non negotiable. ie:- rent, or mortgage, power, reg. Ins. Rates. Borrowings. Med. ins.

Need to:- food, fuel, medical, clothing etc.
Daily or weekly unknowns.

If by then your estimated budget has anything left over, put it into the third column, and save it. Amazingly it mounts up overtime.
My niece did this, and saved enough in 2 years, to pay me back for the car I sold her and bought a new sofa with the remainder.

A mother I know gave her adult son this advice when he was seeing a woman who most of the town had already “seen”
Son….. you don’t go to the wreckers to buy a new car……

My dear old Dad said to me, David if you make a mistake admit it, learn from it and move on. If you don't admit your mistake it will be on your mind for ever. David

My Grandmothers advice when I was a child
When you get up in the morning have a good long look in the mirror and when you think you are perfect only then will you be able to judge others
She then said but that day will never come , think about it
