'Best piece of advice' competition - Share your best advice and you could win $100

Members! It's (finally) time for another competition!

This month, we're looking for the best piece of advice you've ever received OR that you've given. Did your mum tell you to wash behind your ears or always eat your vegetables? Perhaps the advice was to be kind to strangers. We want to hear from you.

The top answer will win a $100 voucher to (your choice) of either Woolies, Coles, IGA or ALDI. We plan to run this competition until the end of October.

Happy writing! We can't wait to read all your wonderful advice!

My mother told me to always wear clean undies when I go out, in case I'm in an accident and have to be taken to hospital.

As a child, my grandad used to tell me two things, “never put off until tomorrow what you can do today” and “never carry a lazy man’s load” to this day (I’m 61) I hear him say it in my ear, so I can never ‘put off’ and I truly believe in the lazy man’s load (carrying to much at once to get the job done) I’ve tried it and it always back fires!
Memories to hold dear 🥰

My Dad taught me this and I say it daily : 'God give me the strength to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things that I can and the wisdom to know the difference'

My mother always told me never to tell friends all your darkest secrets because as you get older and your life changes and those secrets seem unimportant those secrets will follow you forever because people have long memories.

The best piece of advice I always do to this day and have told a few family and friends and they have come to thank me for giving them this piece of advice is :- when a electrical appliance isn’t in use like for incidence the electric jug, switch off at the power point. If no one is in a room or if you are leaving a room switch off the lights to that room. Every time a power switch is on at the wall and the appliance isn’t being used it’s chewing up power. Making these simple little changes like that helps using less power means a lower power bill.

My beautiful Grandpa taught me this:
Assume nothing
Believe no-one
Check everything
Act as if everything I do makes a difference.
In other words, make wise choices and be responsible for my actions.

My precious Mum taught me to be quick to listen (use my ears rather than my tongue), be slow to speak (think long and hard about what I am going to say), and be even slower to anger (I'm allowed to get angry, but don't let anger get to me).
This teaching is based on a verse from the New Testament book of James.
