ALDI’s Lazzio coffee wins 2022 Golden Bean award

If you’re a fan of ALDI’s Lazzio Coffee, we have some great news for you — it has been awarded the coveted Golden Bean for Overall Large Chain Champion in the world’s largest coffee roasting competition!

This is the fourth consecutive year that Lazzio Coffee has taken home this prestigious award, which is a major feat considering more than 800 coffee entrants were submitted across Australia and Asia into the 2022 competition.

Over 100 industry figures served as judges in the award.

ALDI’s Lazzio Coffee is in Hawaii, US competing in the Golden Bean World Series 2022 which started on November 29 and ends on December 2.

There are six Lazzio variants currently offered, such as Lazzio Dark Beans 1 kg ($11.99) and Peru Ground Coffee 250 g ($4.99).

The supermarket giant produces the coffee range in partnership with Victoria-based Black Bag Roasters.

Aside from the Overall Large Chain Champion award, ALDI also bagged Golden Beans in the ‘super-automatic’, ‘chain-store espresso’, ‘chain-store milk-based’, and ‘filter’ categories.

ALDI and Black Bag Roasters are swelling with pride at their achievement.

‘We know Aussies love their coffee, and at ALDI we’re dedicated to ensuring every morning brew will be the best quality at the lowest price possible,’ said ALDI Australia Buying Director Varun Raheja.

‘Roasted in Melbourne, we developed the Lazzio Coffee range to bring customers a café experience at home, without the high price tag.

‘Our aim is to always exceed our customers’ expectations, and we couldn’t be more excited and proud to see the Lazzio range recognised again in these awards.’

Black Bag Roasters Director of Sales Lance Brown added: ‘This impressive fourth consecutive win is proof that our Lazzio beans have consistently maintained their uncompromised quality standards from our farmers all the way to the cups of consumers.’

‘This acknowledgement at the World’s Largest Roasting Competition caps off an already incredible 2022 for ALDI’s “Lazzio Coffee” and Black Bag Roasters after also winning the Canstar Blue Award for Best Coffee for a second year in a row.

‘We can’t wait to see where our eighth year of partnership with ALDI will take us.’

Coffee used in ALDI’s Lazzio range is sustainably sourced and Fairtrade, Rainforest Alliance or UTZ (now part of Rainforest Alliance) Certified.

ALDI’s Expressi Coffee range also won at the Canstar Blue Awards for Best Coffee Pods.

If this story has you feeling like you want a warm brew, don’t worry!

One Italian grandma shared her hack for barista-style coffee done at home that needs no milk at all!

But be sure to eat something first before you down a cup, because one expert warns drinking coffee on an empty stomach can cause ‘major issues’ for the body.

So, what do you think of ALDI’s Lazzio Coffee range? Have you tried it? How does it taste to you?

I don't have, nor do I want, any sort of coffee machine. If they have this in an instant coffee form I'd be happy to try it. :)

My son-in-law is the coffee drinker in the house& we recently switched to Lazzio coffee beans. He has been most impressed by them also by the Diplomate English breakfast tea which is his go-to drink before bed. I am so happy to have changed to Aldi several years ago as they have saved me mega bucks in that time.
