Save up to 24% Off Your Power Bill

It’s no secret the cost of energy is adding to our already stretched household budgets. It's why so many SDC members are making a bid to rein in those spiralling power costs.

It makes sense when you consider that energy prices across Australia have risen by over 30% within the last 12 months—on top of the 20% rise last year. And it doesn’t look like they’ll be going down anytime soon, either.

In fact, experts say* we've not seen the end of energy price hikes for 2023/2024—for electricity as well as gas.

Let’s now couple that with other rising costs of living, and it’s no wonder many of us are likely feeling the financial squeeze right now.

What can you do?

There’s still time to discover the best option for you (with a little bit of help*).

If your wallet could do with a helping hand, Compare Club’s experts* might have just the offer: How about putting up to $520 back in your pocket*?

I encourage everyone to switch every 12 months - even more often.

I recently signed up on the AGL Seniors Plan and found out within a couple of bills that I was actually paying more than my previous plan! Within 6 months I was gone.
AGL.... thieving mongrels

the compare club gets you to change to a supplier with a lower rate and within a couple of month UP goes the rate to a higher rate than you were getting in the first place... no thanks.

Personally I think installing solar panels is an absolute rort!!! We installed ours about 3-4 years ago and at one stage with Origin Energy we were only getting about 6 cents feed in Tarif and getting only $11 credit a month. Changed to OVO and now getting 14cents up until 14kwt so getting approx $53 which is much better. I’m sure it’s false advertising when companies state that you’ll be in credit is an absolute lie. Our bill is usually around $130 ish a month for the 3 of us.
A very unhappy customer. I’d certainly be interested in other peoples story.

We have solar panels and they’ll take forever to pay off as the feed in tariffs are so low. We’ve now changed to OVO and the feed in tariff gives us $45-$50 whereas before i change it was $11 a month. It’s a rort really!!!
But you stated your bill is about $150 for 3 people, that is a very low electricity bill.
As I stated, I also have solar panels and my bills are negligible. Before I had solar panels I would be very careful and yet my bills would be in excess of $400. Six bills a year makes $2400. My entire bill for last year was less than $800.
I was lucky enough to be in a position to pay up front for my panels, but nonetheless if I was paying them off it wouldn't have taken about two and a half years to recoup the cost. I think that is a good investment.

Would be great to have a choice of energy suppliers. A luxury for city people. Many of us living in rural and regional areas have one provider only..

I wish they would stop lowering the price of Solar input. It is almost negligible. I have 12 panels and 2 batteries and still have to pay due to medical equipment and medical cooling.
On sunny days when my batteries are full, the excess flows back into the grid. I get almost nothing for it.

I find if I want to use someone like compare club once I make the first step I keep getting phone calls hassling me to change. I would like to be able to compare and just make my own decision without different people constantly ringing me and trying to pressure me into changing. I like to make my own decisions.

Same, we get very little for our solar credits, then the power companies sell it off at high prices. It is an area where they are ripping off the public and governments should make it illegal.

Our Gas bill was much higher this time then it was last quarter, we have been with AGI for a long time, but it's becoming dearer all the time so I have changed companies, we shall see how that goes.

With blackouts coming you may be onto something,at least you will still be able to get a meal.
Years ago my sister's place was the only one in the street with gas, they cooked for most neighbors after Cyclone Tracey struck.

my gas and hot water plus heating was fantastic used to be around $100 -$120 per quarter for gas and electric around $230 Now $861 last bill just for electric (lights radio and tv ,computer and phone only) I am waiting for my gas bill for stove heater and hot water ,I live in a 2 b/room house and live alone, if my last bill for elect went from $230 to$861, I shudder to think what my gas bill is going to be.. (and get a pensioner rebate $48 )
my new gas bill has almost tripled, I am with Energy Australia.

Each electricity company have theri own method of showing the their rates. Until the bills become the same format for all companies it is too hard for the average person to compare. The government advertised that they would help with electricity bills. BUT they didn't tell us how. It was insinuated that pensioners didn't have to do anything it would automatically come off out bills. Now when you read the eligibility, we should not have paid our bills first. This was never made evident.
