Save up to 24% Off Your Power Bill

It’s no secret the cost of energy is adding to our already stretched household budgets. It's why so many SDC members are making a bid to rein in those spiralling power costs.

It makes sense when you consider that energy prices across Australia have risen by over 30% within the last 12 months—on top of the 20% rise last year. And it doesn’t look like they’ll be going down anytime soon, either.

In fact, experts say* we've not seen the end of energy price hikes for 2023/2024—for electricity as well as gas.

Let’s now couple that with other rising costs of living, and it’s no wonder many of us are likely feeling the financial squeeze right now.

What can you do?

There’s still time to discover the best option for you (with a little bit of help*).

If your wallet could do with a helping hand, Compare Club’s experts* might have just the offer: How about putting up to $520 back in your pocket*?

I encourage everyone to switch every 12 months - even more often.

I recently signed up on the AGL Seniors Plan and found out within a couple of bills that I was actually paying more than my previous plan! Within 6 months I was gone.
Big mistake going with AGL.

Same here, guess you live in WA.
I have 22 solar panels, which have more than paid for themselves, my bills are negligible.
Personally I think installing solar panels is an absolute rort!!! We installed ours about 3-4 years ago and at one stage with Origin Energy we were only getting about 6 cents feed in Tarif and getting only $11 credit a month. Changed to OVO and now getting 14cents up until 14kwt so getting approx $53 which is much better. I’m sure it’s false advertising when companies state that you’ll be in credit is an absolute lie. Our bill is usually around $130 ish a month for the 3 of us.
A very unhappy customer. I’d certainly be interested in other peoples story.

Would like to find a way to turn the power off & do without it altogether, they are all thieving rogues! And solar seems like an expensive con/scam to me!

my gas and hot water plus heating was fantastic used to be around $100 -$120 per quarter for gas and electric around $230 Now $861 last bill just for electric (lights radio and tv ,computer and phone only) I am waiting for my gas bill for stove heater and hot water ,I live in a 2 b/room house and live alone, if my last bill for elect went from $230 to$861, I shudder to think what my gas bill is going to be.. (and get a pensioner rebate $48 )
Something seriously wrong here, needs to be checked. Ombudsman maybe?

I BLAME GREED FOR INFLATION. POWER COMPANIES, COLES AND WOOLWORTHS. IF THE POWER GOES UP 20%, COLES AND WOLLIES PRICES GO UP 30% TO 50%.
REMEMBER COLES AND WOLLIES WERE PLEADING WITH ALDI TO RAISE PRICES BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT COMPETE WITH ALDI. WHO IS BRAGGING ABOUT THE HIGHEST PROFITS. THEY CAN COMPETE, BUT THEY ARE TOO GREEDY TO. PERSONALLY I THINK ALDI SHOULD DECREASE PRICES, STILL MAKE PROFITS AND SHOW AUSTRALIA JUST HOW GREEDY THEY ALL ARE.

If the wankers in government had doing their jobs instead of obsessing about a bloody voice maybe we wouldn't be paying 30% more for electricty/gas.

We have solar and electric, but have just decided to add a solar backup system which will run our fridge, freezer and lights with fans in case of a blackout. We have our bbq and a small gas camping stove we can use for cooking. Now the weather is so sunny our solar battery has enough power stored to last most of the night so we use little power from the grid.

Same here, guess you live in WA.

We have solar panels and they’ll take forever to pay off as the feed in tariffs are so low. We’ve now changed to OVO and the feed in tariff gives us $45-$50 whereas before i change it was $11 a month. It’s a rort really!!!

It's more about what it saves on your power than about the feed in tariff, which I agree is a joke.
Nonetheless I have saved a substantial amount on my power. In the summer I am in credit, in the winter my bill has been around $50 to $120, You need to take that into account when you are working out how long it takes to repay.
By the way, what is OVO???

are we still selling our gas to Japan for 5cents per litre ?We were about 2-3yrs ago wouldn't surprise me if we still are...my gas bill used to be really cheap (around $90-100 ea quarter, now is the same as electricity....puzzles me why they are trying to get rid of gas when the electricity supplies are only just handling supply...and now shutting down coal fired stations as well as converting cars to elect usage and getting rid of gas. the world is getting crazier by the day

Arghhhhh.... AGL you poor thing.. biggest thieves od the lot... they are the last company I would deal with.

At one place I was renting they wanted to charge me $165 disconnection fee.... "WHY" I asked.... to which they replied"The cost of the person to come out and do the final read"..... is that a fact I answered.... why with the smart meters (which was installed unbeknown to me) they could simply dial in and read the meter.... needless to say I received no charge. Thieving Mongeral basta***.

Do it the easy way..... shower once a fortnight and keep a record of units used and the rate. Read the meters on a daily basis for at least a month and keep a record for later comparison.... measure something and you will see a drop in usage.

There was an interesting article on the Channel 9 News Wednesday evening about unusually high electricity accounts.

The newsreader said, "THE COMMISSION IS ONLY REQUIRED TO DO A PHYSICAL READING ONCE PER YEAR & THE REST OF THE TIME THESE ARE ESTIMATED. THIS CAN BE VERIFIED BY AN 'E' ON PAGE 2 OF THE STATEMENT. The 'E' is an abbreviation for ESTIMATED".

Luckily I have a provider that allows me to email the image of my meter reading each month and the bill I get reflects the correct read every month... BUGGER THE ESTIMATES
