But you must admit they were all worth the splurgy!!

Good try both, getting pedantic here again (sorry).
Rhyming was inventive and good, metre or flow was a bit off sorry.
The fourth line should have a similar number of syllables as the third.
The whole comes together better if the 4th was shortened a bit... ie:

Limericks in the past insulted the clergy
They forgot to analyse their massive exergy,
Most were rude and uncouth
Muttered in the confession booth
But you must admit they were all worth the splurgy!!

There's nothing to beat a late arvo scotch

No, but at my age plus getting hooked on limericks as a teenager, I made a bit of a study of them. I know a lot of rather rude ones. ha ha but will confine those to the other limerick thread.
