Monday is a day for people's washing
In the tub the water is sloshing

To find another sock!
Or perhaps another jock

Monday is a day for people's washing
Out on a line with the wind blowing;
To find another sock!
Hiding under a rock,

Continuing from silverfire breather.... grins

Monday is a day for people's washing
In the tub the water is sloshing
To find another sock!
Or perhaps another jock,
What's a Scotty doing with yon clothing!

What plans for a day cold & drear?

Hi everyone! We'd love to have a go at writing a limerick as a group :D You'll need to post the next line that will follow the last comment in the thread.

Here are the basic rules:

5 lines

Lines 1, 2 and 5 rhyme.
Lines 3 and 4 rhyme
Distinctive rhythm
Usually funny

Here is an example of a limerick:

There was an old man named Jake,
Who ate only spuds and beefsteak,
He drank, and he smoked,
And told dirty jokes,

And died young at a hundred and eight.

I'll get us started:

There was an old man in a tree...
There was an old man in a tree
Who badly wanted to pee
Quickly looking around
And not seeing a soul
He let it all go "freeeeee"!

What plans for a day cold & drear?
Snuggle up in bed and draw the covers near;
With a significant other
Or a brand new lover,
The sexercise you'll hold very dear...

There was a lady from Ealing

There was a lady from Ealing
Who hung by her heels from the ceiling;

She cried in despair
oh my shoes need a repair
and she fell from above and went reeling!

I've been thinking about your comment. Surely it's the last 4 letters that rhyme.

Well done, it came together nicely.. :p

I'm not sure, but I work on the theory that if it sounds right it must be ok.. lol
There are English words for which there are no rhyming words.. ie silver, orange, purple and a couple more I can't quite recall.
