History is a tool we should learn from. But too many people think it is unappealing. How can you learn when you don't put in an effort?
Hi Nana Zorak, I’ve finished 3 books in Peter Watts series, starting with Cry of the Curlew then the next two. I have purchased the fourth so I’m ready to go. Our early history certainly has some dark elements, I will never understand the unnecessary slaughter of our indigenous people or the way white people consider themselves to be superior to others. Most wealthy land or business owners were so devious and so much for no slavery in Australia ever! These books are certainly worth the read. Thank you for recommending them. 😍

I have the privilege of knowing Peter and working with him before he became an author. He is a great writer and prior to that had many different jobs in different places, so has the experience that good writer's need.
Do you still see Peter Watt Reet? If you do please tell him that I have started reading his books & have thoroughly enjoyed them.

Do you read the physical book or Ebook reader. Holding a book in your hand is always preferable but so expensive nowadays especially after retirement. All my books now are as MOBI or EPUB on my iPad.
Try enrolling at your local library. I read a lot of books from the library and we do have a session at our Library where we can choose what they buy for the library. This gives everyone the chance to get the books they want to read for the library and then you can borrow at no cost.

John Farnham - Autobiography. A lot of laughter and some tears but it is as though John is sitting in the room having a conversation. Loved it. I have it on my Kindle

I've mentioned this before, however, as a member of the S.D.C, and a senior, I'm living proof that age is no barrier to achieving anything you wish to achieve. I have two books published on Amazon under my author name Shirley Harris. Sufficient Unto The Day, and A Test Of Courage, written as fiction, but based on fact, and samples are available. I wrote the first book in 2006, and the second in 2018. I've never had a lesson in computer skills, and I borrowed my son's computer to type the two hundred and fifty pages, not having typed before. Like most endeavours, getting a literary agent to represent an author is like climbing Mount Everest, virtually impossible, nevertheless, nothing worthwhile comes easily, and success is always worth the blood, sweat, and tears involved. I live in Adelaide, and one of my favourite books is 'Knitting', by an incredible writer, Anne Bartlett, who also lives in Adelaide. Beautifully written and a joy to read. It's published by Penguin, but might be difficult to obtain. I wish you all good fortune in your endeavours.

Oh hello there, dear friends! How’s your Thursday afternoon shaping up? I just started this book called Madonna In A Fur Coat by Sabahattin Ali. Fair warning: It's a bit melancholic, but it explores themes of love and the search for meaning in life. It’s got me to thinking whether I’m truly living life to the fullest. 🤔 What's on YOUR reading list?
