American takes a jab at Aussie parties and says to ‘skip the cheap part’

This Yank should get in the real world. The cost of alcohol is ridiculously high. The host provides the venue, music, food and nibblies and in some cases a swimming pool, spa or sauna, you bring yourself and the alcohol. My message to this American is please don't come to my party, you are a...

Overseas supermarkets ditched self-checkouts—should Coles, Woolworths, and ALDI follow suit?

I never have and never will use self serve checkouts. They take jobs from people and sadly gone are the days when the first job many kids had the opportunity of having was working after school and weekends at the big supermarkets. If self serve checkouts become the norm I will only shop online...

Discover the new strategy Big W is using to attract online shoppers - Will they win you over?

Wow! This will be an interesting exercise. Our nearest Big W is about 200kms away so obviously I don't shop there, but to be able to shop online and get free delivery just may be a game changer. Watch this space!

Senior Queenslanders stuck in 'no-win situation’ amid rental crisis

The rental crisis is definitely a tragedy. The Australian Government needs to reassess their Public Housing tenants. Having worked as a Social Worker for a Christian Welfare Organisation for over 15 years, I know first hand of families who have lived in Public Housing for many years, raised...

Coles, Woolworths, and Costco: Are their paid memberships worth it?

I also live in rural Victoria and it is way cheaper paying membership to a supermarket than the cost of petrol and time it would take me to get to the nearest supermarket. Unfortunately there is no Costco within cooee of me and I've never been to one so can't comment on them.

Battle of the Homebrand Salted Butter: Woolies vs. ALDI vs. Coles vs. IGA

I also had the same issue when I first opened this email, only half the article, but I have just come back to the article again and low and behold it is all now visible! A bit of a glitch there I think.

Battle of the Homebrand Salted Butter: Woolies vs. ALDI vs. Coles vs. IGA

I ONLY use salted butter, I can't see the point in using unsalted butter in a recipe only to be required to add salt! I have tried ALDI, Coles and Woolworths salted butter and my preference is for the Woolworths one, I find the ALDI one spits and spatters more, as though it has water in it. I...

NSW government mulls electric appliance subsidy

If we are all forced to go electric, just imagine the stress on the grid! The system wouldn't cope, power blackouts everywhere particularly in Summer when air conditioners are on and in Winter when electric heating is on. The whole thing is an absolute joke. Give me my gas hotplates and gas...

Making this energy switch could save you $450 yearly

What a load of rubbish! I have a gas hot water service that is supported by two solar panels, and my stove has gas hotplates with an electric oven and as we live in a rural area we only have access to bottled gas, My gas usage is two bottles per year, amounting to less than $300. You can't...

Tragic twist: Clare Nowland's death exposes non-compliant facility post-alleged taser incident

I totally agree with you BUT tasering an old lady is a step too far, there would most definitely have been a better way to diffuse the situation without getting trigger happy. I feel for all involved also, it's a real tragedy.
