It I got up in a bad mood my Mother used to say ‘go back to bed and get out the other side’ - thus I always wake happy.
If My Mum said that ... I would escape because my bed was up against a window.. and there was only one side to get out of.. but I never woke in a bad mood because I was up and running at daybreak.
Ever had a super hyper-actuve kid..?? They never get up in a bad mood, they are just so happy to see another day starting.

Wait until your father gets home My brother and I waited and when he arrived home and heard mum’s story we were herded into the bathroom and off came dad’s belt It was very hard to sit down for a good while but I still loved my mum…..and my dad

I did not like a lot of my mother’s cooking and kept stirring with my fork and not much eating . I was a fair bit under weight and had to eat what was put on my plate. I was dreading the homemade pea soup , with a lot of animal fat added to it and my bowl with soup was getting cold and the fat got hard and tasted awful. I had to sit somewhere else , near the dairy stable to eat it . But I could not swallow it , my Dad felt sorry for me and eaten my soup and I went into the kitchen with my empty bowl.
My Mum used to say “. You have not been in the war you know “, then you would eat it”. I heard that a lot . Nowadays I make my own pea soup with no fat at all and love it. Also I hardly throw anything out , make another meal of the leftovers. (y) :D

Oh gosh, mum used to say many things, the one that seems to be repeated on here is 'eat your food you should be grateful you have food on the table there are children starving' 'I have eyes in the back of my head' the first time she said that I went looking for them, it freaked me out imagining my mother with four eyes. 'Don't do as I do, do as I say' 'Eat your carrots' was another one. What is also something I noticed when I had children, I was saying the same sort of things to my children.

What is something your mum used to say to you when you were a kid?

Hey members!

How have you all been? I have another fun question for you today. With Mother's Day just around the corner, it got me thinking about the countless memories and stories we have of our incredible mums. I want to know: what is something your mother used to say to you when you were a kid that still sticks with you today? Maybe it was a phrase that always made you feel better when you were feeling down or some sage advice that you still live by. Or perhaps it was just a funny expression that always made you laugh. Whatever it was, let's take a moment to share it and celebrate the fantastic women who have supported us through thick and thin.

Something my mother used to say to me when I did not like my food as a kid was, 'There are children starving all over the world; eat your dinner’. I knew it was just her way of getting me to eat my vegetables, but I couldn't help but feel guilty for not finishing what was on my plate.

Now it’s your turn. Share your stories with us in the comments below.
