Absolutely wonderful responses, everyone! Let me share one I often heard growing up, whenever I dared to ask for help with looking for something: 'You look for things with your eyes, not with your mouth.'

What is something your mum used to say to you when you were a kid?

Hey members!

How have you all been? I have another fun question for you today. With Mother's Day just around the corner, it got me thinking about the countless memories and stories we have of our incredible mums. I want to know: what is something your mother used to say to you when you were a kid that still sticks with you today? Maybe it was a phrase that always made you feel better when you were feeling down or some sage advice that you still live by. Or perhaps it was just a funny expression that always made you laugh. Whatever it was, let's take a moment to share it and celebrate the fantastic women who have supported us through thick and thin.

Something my mother used to say to me when I did not like my food as a kid was, 'There are children starving all over the world; eat your dinner’. I knew it was just her way of getting me to eat my vegetables, but I couldn't help but feel guilty for not finishing what was on my plate.

Now it’s your turn. Share your stories with us in the comments below.

When in the bath; "and clean behind your ears, we don't want (spuds) potatoes growing there!"

And she would also say: "always look after those that look after you" and consequently I now cook a range of scones, sausage rolls and other snacks fairly regularly for my doctors and specialists staff, dentist, garage guys, xray staff and now as our bodies age, pretty much anybody involved in the health industry, 😊🙄

Mum used some interesting words.. Bijingo!! and codswallop. My favourite was "a wigwam for a goose's bridal"😂 ,if we asked what something was that we weren't supposed to know.
My mum used all of those sayings also.I think the most important thing she told me though was "if you take care of the pennies, the pounds will take care of themselves". Wise words.

My husband, who can be a little so-so, when doing projects often says I drive him nuts because I'm such a damn perfectionist.
I say it was because my mother always said "if you're going to do something, make sure you do it properly or don't do it at all".
When knitting a jumper for my granddaughter I discovered I'd made a mistake a few inches back so I pulled it undone and fixed it.
My husband said nobody would know the mistake was there, my answer was "no maybe not, but I would".
