I remember one afternoon we were waiting at the bus stop for our school bus.
The bus arrived, the driver’s name was
Frank. Someone threw an unlit fire cracker into the bus, which landed at Frank’s feet. He grabbed the crank handle from under his seat, jumped out of the bus, and waved it at us. Thereafter he had the nickname “ Crank Handle Frank”, which ultimately was shortened to
“Cranky Franky.” True story!!
and that is why fireworks are banned these days, because of clowns like that. We used to have great time on Empire Day(of which there is no more) and Guy Fawkes night.

Fort Street Boys High in Sydney. Finished early 70s
obviously a boy with brains
I lived in Callala Beach/Bay from 1990 to 2007 until I moved to Bundaberg, Queensland.
Wow Veg...talk about a travelling man. LOL I'm still in Blundaberg over 30 years since arrival.
There doesn't appear to be anyone in here who went to RIVERSIDE GIRL'S DOMESTIC HOME SCIENCE while Gladesville Bridge (new) was being built. I left at the end of 1957 and co-ed high schools came into being the following year. I grew up in Ryde NSW.

I spent a lot of years in Ryde. West Ryde, Top Ryde and played squash for Riverview Squash Club (Gladesville). which later became self-storage facility. 🥲

My brother lived at North Ryde for many years. I liked the area.

I lived in Myra Avenue off Lane Cove Road. Began school at Ryde then went to Putney Primary. My father put much of Ryde/Gladesville on the sewer. Much of North Ryde used to be Chinese cultivated market gardens before the golf club took over.

Sacred Heart College Geelong finished HSC in 1978 then went to Deakin Uni to train as a teacher. That was the first year that Geelong Teachers College became part of Deakin Uni.

I attended Woonona HS. Started first form in 1972, then in 5th form (1976), I left to travel Europe with my family for 6 months. I regret at times not returning but I was too embarrassed to have to repeat 5th form. Travelling with my parents and brothers was the most wonderful experience.
Someone from NSW.I went to Lake Illawarra High school

I couldn't wait to finish high school

The day I picked up my school certificate at an assembly and the bell rand three times as I was walking away,I remember turning around and looking across the comex and thinking I NEVER HAVE TO COME TO THIS PLACE AGAIN....Biggest sense of relief of my life.

Just thinking about it My science teacher was an old deaf man named Tom Potts, my metal work teacher was "Killer" Keats, English teacher 5 foot nothing Graham Thode, of cause in those days it was always Mr, a teacher was NEVER called by their christian name. Teachers back then ruled, Mr Martin our wood work teacher would not hesitate in throwing a blackboard duster at a student who was not paying attention. Best day of the week was Friday Sports Day, swimming in the Summer and RL in the winter although some kids played soccer but not competition like RL. Hard to think back over 70 years. The School Was Ashfield Technical College. Wonder if kids today get a choice of schools, I could have gone to Drummoyne High or Leichhardt Tech, wish I had of gone to the latter I might have got the chance to play for Balmain Tigers.
Yes teachers got away with a lot

I went to Canterbury Boy's High School from Bexley North Primary School in (I think) 1947/8. I had a brand new Globite school case. It was handy for sitting on as I had to catch trains to get to Canterbury, and as I travelled in peak hours seats were rare both at stations and on trains. The good old Globite did the job nicely.
Nothing like them!!!

Hi there! I started High School at Swan Hill High in 1959 and left after finishing Matriculation in 1964. I didn't accomplish much in the way of sport at school, I took part in a few school musicals, but my main claim to fame while there, was having to be taken to hospital after being hit by a javelin. LOL!
Ouch, but hey i bet people still recall that till this day.pretty darm cool man!!!

I remember someone having rotten egg gas in a bottle from science class and breaking it on the crowded school bus....yuck can still smell it

I went to Elizabeth Girls Technical High School which changed it's name to Playford Girls High School in Elizabeth S.A. from 74 to 77. I had to repeat 1st year high.

I forgot to mention that we went on some great school trips in those years.
The first one was to Surfers Paradise, then to Canberra and the snow fields, another one to the snow fields and one to Tasmania, they were real treats.
I was also a Debutant in my last year which was a highlight.
After that I didn't do much, I worked in a factory that my mother, stepfather, and one of my brothers worked at for a year, moved into my own flat at 18 then ran off to live in Perth for 22 years.

That’s great to see your school photos!

We moved around a fair bit, even during high school days, so never really felt included. Being a bit rebellious, my solace was drugs/drink.

Can’t even remember the names of two of the high schools I attended. 🤔 Didn’t finish high school.

High school was not my best time in life. 😉
