2024 was a sad year for me with the loss of my husband, but I am extremely grateful for my wonderful friends who have been such a great support
I am also grateful for the messages I received from SDC members and particularly to one special lady who reached out to me. via SDC and we have become close "email" friends.

Thank you Gaena your emails brighten up my days. 🥰
Hi M, you wrote such a positive post, I had to reply. Friends are the gems that enrich life. I’m so sorry for the loss of your husband. This Holiday season may be a mixture of emotions, many memories flowing through your thoughts. I lost my eldest son this year. It’s hard because we were not close, though my love for him never altered. He was so deeply troubled. He was 55.
Thank you for your post.
Best wishes 💝🙏🏻🌟

Thank you so much, I feel so sorry for you over the loss of your son and feel your pain.
I am also estranged from my eldest son who is 52 and expect that dreaded call any time. He had a massive heart attack about twelve months ago and the specialist told him he only had 6 months to live if he kept "using". I was hopeful this scare may produce a positive result, but unfortunately not. Such a waste of a life. I don't know how I managed to raise two such completely different sons.
My best wishes to you and your family, may 2025 be kinder to you.💖

Thank you. I have a wonderful younger loving son also. Two very different sons like you. 💝

I'm so sorry that I did not realise you had lost your husband this year. Thought I read everything intensively but missed this. My sincere condolences to you and so glad Gaena is your friend. I have been praying for her since I read that she was unwell. Please let me know your husband's name and I will pray for his soul. 🙏 🌈 Please take care and hope your son contacts you.

We had an Italian family opposite us in the UK .They had six children and we were in and out of each others houses all the time especially John who was more our age now calls his-self Giovanni.l remember playing Postmans Knock using our pantry such harmless fun.

I've had many things to be thankful for but the top of my list is my grandson's strength .

My Grandson was born on the 2nd of November at 12 weeks early. He was only 1kg 40 grams. He was doing so well and Doctors were surprised at how quick he was gaining weight and being able to breath on his own.

We had a major set back when he caught a virus two weeks ago , he gave up breathing as he became too tired. He was put on life support and his parents were told he may not make it and they needed to take hour by hour.
He is now awake more and was taken off the life support. He is still on oxygen and is still tube fed. But he is responding and he now weighs 2kg 300grams

So I'm thankful for the fight in him and I'm very thankful to everyone who has been praying 🙏 and there has been alot who are praying daily.

This is our Grandson on Saturday, my daughter managed to get a photo while they were changing his tubes

Many years ago my ex husband and I worked on a farm, picking tomatoes. It was owned by a lovely Italian family, who treated us like part of their family. It was how we saved the deposit for our first home. They were extremely surprised that we lasted the two months as most people left within a few days, some of them even a few hours. It was backbreaking work in stinking heat.
I thought their family life was just wonderful and looked forward to this when I married my husband .
Unfortunately not so, some of his family were very confrontational and I used to joke to my husband that I got ripped off and had married into the Mafia, LOL.
In saying that my mother in law was a beautiful lady and I have two lovely sisters in law.
On the other hand one of the brothers said I was "that smart arsed
Aussie bitch who married his brother".
Oh dear, never mind, I think he should have stayed in Italy. He certainly didn't like Aussies, especially me.Lol

Family politics are always daunting but at least you married your Bruno.

Hi Vella,

My new life started 10 years ago when I discovered that my marriage was not all it was cracked up to be. The now ex husband decided that he needed a new partner after 40 years and 3 lovely children later. That said I divorced him finally two years ago on Valentine's Day. Luckily no house or anything to split which was very nice. Now I moved from NSW to WA and have never looked back. I now live a very quiet life. I go out and enjoy dinner out and a movie occasionally but I also like my solitude. I do love reading your columns, recipes and info so don't think that I am too alone. My peace and quiet are very welcoming.
I do care for a housemate but only as a driver when required and some company when needed.
I hope you don't mind my ranting on but sometimes it's nice to clear ones head.
Cheers Angie

Glad your enjoying it here in sunny WA (though a bit of a stinker) here today.
Everyone's entitled to a rant every now and then so go for it.
Have a happy Xmas. 🎄✨
