2024 was a sad year for me with the loss of my husband, but I am extremely grateful for my wonderful friends who have been such a great support
I am also grateful for the messages I received from SDC members and particularly to one special lady who reached out to me. via SDC and we have become close "email" friends.
Thank you Gaena your emails brighten up my days. 🥰

The only highlight in 2024 was that I went to my country of birth,Holland, with my son to get to see my mother for the last time, as she passed away a month ago. Other than that I would like to forget 2024 asap, my marriage after 20 years broke up, I have got 3 hernias and I got diagnosed with cancer
2025 will be a good year for you ❤️

I am thankful to my surgeons for getting out the tumor I had in my bowel, but then months later after being told I now have stage 4 bowel cancer wasn't very good.
But i'm thankful to my oncologist for being by my side and fighting with me to be able to stay fit and healthy
I pray 🙏 for you to be healed and that you are given strength.
We are all here for you at anytime ❤️❤️

Hi Everyone, My most memorable time in 2024 was the birth of my Great Granddaughter "Kaylee Charlotte", born 8/10/24. I am 78 & have just found the joy of being this age & seeing all my children & myself in this beautiful baby. Every time I see & hold her, my heart lifts & I forget my hard life & see the beauty before her. The best of the Christmas season to all.

I've had many things to be thankful for but the top of my list is my grandson's strength .

My Grandson was born on the 2nd of November at 12 weeks early. He was only 1kg 40 grams. He was doing so well and Doctors were surprised at how quick he was gaining weight and being able to breath on his own.

We had a major set back when he caught a virus two weeks ago , he gave up breathing as he became too tired. He was put on life support and his parents were told he may not make it and they needed to take hour by hour.
He is now awake more and was taken off the life support. He is still on oxygen and is still tube fed. But he is responding and he now weighs 2kg 300grams

So I'm thankful for the fight in him and I'm very thankful to everyone who has been praying 🙏 and there has been alot who are praying daily.

This is our Grandson on Saturday, my daughter managed to get a photo while they were changing his tubes

Thank you Suzanne Rose for your good wishes.
My daughter and I have just moved home, actually 5 days ago, so organised chaos at the moment.
Still in the country, but trying to downsize from a very large 4x2 into a 3x1 is quite a chore.
Still I'm looking forward to restyling my new home, my favourite pass time and then off to NSW to visit my son and family in Feb and a trip to Bali with my best friend of 55 years in August.
Yes 2025 is looking a lot better.

So thankful to call our amazing country Australia as home. Family is myself & my younger son, & I’m blessed to have always shared a wonderful relationship with him. Also thankful for friends & my faith.
Happy Holidays SDC 🙋‍♀️

Must be a real worry for you but don't give up they are always coming up with new treatments and hopefully one that will help you.

I'm so thankful that my family are all healthy and enjoying life. I'm also thankful for the love I have for them and, I'm glad to say, they have for me as well. Also for the vets for keeping my dog Soxy as healthy as possible. Like me she has diabetes and I thought I was going to lose her but the vets helped turn her around and now she's back to her happy self. Wishing every one a Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year

What a fighter, really hope he comes through

I am just really happy to still be on the top side of earth - NOT 6 feet under it. Had a Brain tumor removed in a 13 hour operation at RBWH in 2019, suffered 2 strokes, on LIFE support for 5 days, and, lost the use of my foot action in my left leg.(Dorsi flexion is where your foot uses the heel down first when you make a step) and it is now 15 years of PURE BLISS living with my wife and family still. So that is my 2024 year summary, thankyou.

I am thankful to have my husband. In July while working in his home office having video meetings, he didn't feel quite right. He came and asked me to take him to hospital. Initially they thought it was his gall bladder and they did discover he had some stones. But a remarkable Dr in ED felt there was more to it and decided to do blood tests which showed his troponin level was raised. A further test some hours later proved it had gone up even more. He was having a heart attack. It was way worse than they originally thought and he had 5 bypasses. Last week we saw the surgeon who took his gall bladder out a few weeks ago and he said we are lucky. If they had operated on his gallbladder first, he would have died on the table and there would have been nothing they could do to stop it. Having gotten him through throat cancer during covid, this is the last thing we expected. Onward and upward from here don't you think? Merry Christmas everyone.
