Terrifying home invasion turns violent: Three victims face head-chopping threat

In the quiet of night, when the world seems to be at rest, the last thing anyone expects is their sanctuary to be breached.

But for one family in the northern Adelaide suburb of Munno Para, their home became the scene of a nightmare that unfolded with chilling threats and brutal violence.

At approximately 1:15 am on a seemingly peaceful Saturday, the Andelkovic household was thrust into terror as three masked men forced their way through an unlocked door.

The assailants, shrouded in the anonymity of balaclavas, unleashed a wave of violence that would leave three family members, including a 78-year-old man awaiting hip replacement surgery, with severe injuries.

Bobby Andelkovic, 51, recounted the harrowing ordeal, describing how the intruders brandished a blunt machete, which they used to wound his father's thigh grievously.

His aunt, 61-year-old Tania, suffered a punch that resulted in a brain clot, while his elderly uncle, confined to a wheelchair, could only watch as the chaos unfolded around him.

The brutality of the attack was underscored by the vile threats uttered by one of the attackers, who menacingly told Mr Andelkovic, 'I'll chop your f****** head off.'

‘I heard a commotion as they came into the house, and when they saw me, they started yelling, asking me where the money was, and then they started bashing me up,’ he said.

‘There was blood everywhere – they used their blunt machete to chop my dad's thigh in half. There was just blood on the bed and the floor.'

The assault, which lasted an agonising 20 minutes, ended with the invaders leaving a trail of destruction in their wake, including shattered glass and a hole in the wall.

Mr Andelkovic himself sustained a litany of injuries, including a black eye, fractured nose, jaw, and ribs, as well as bruised and swollen limbs.

In the aftermath, the family was rushed to the hospital.

The question of why this had happened to them hung heavily in the air, with police suggesting the family may have been specifically targeted.

However, Mr Andelkovic did not recognise the men or their voices.

According to the family, the only item missing was an ID card.

The community is now on high alert, and the suspects remain large. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers.

In related news, Mark Smedley, a 63-year-old grandfather, was reportedly assaulted with a scooter at an intersection in Christies Beach, Adelaide.

The attack resulted in severe injuries, including a fractured skull.

Witnesses described the incident as unprovoked and brutal, with some initially fearing that Mark had died. For further details, click here.

Oh my goodness these poor souls, l cannot begin to imagine the fear and pain these people have experienced. Their safe place has been shattered. What is going on in this world? To attack a house full of older people so violently is behond me. My husband has our house locked up like Fort Knox, as soon as the sun goes down. It drives me crazy. I try to let the dog out and l have to fight my way through three locks. Our daughter commented on Saturday if the house caught on fire you would not get out, you have a lock on the side gate. It's sad to say but this is the world we now live in. Our world has changed so much it's so violent and scary.
I truly hope these poor souls recover soon and can find some peace.

Kind regards Vicki

A good whipping of these animals would curb there disgusting ways. The laws & courts are so weak. A rap on the knuckles & out they go again to carry on with their thieving & abuse of virtually everything. Those poor people should never have to live through that. It will leave them scarred for life. A good whipping to the abuser will leave them with memories of their abusive ways.

Becoming unsafe in this country to go out for walk or even stay home. Thanks Albo this is your fault.
I am not a Labor supporter, but this has been going on for too long now under both governments to point the stick at one.
Our courts are so weak, balanced in the favour of the criminal and the goody two shoes social workers, etc who are more worried about trying to rehabilitate the criminal than about the victim who has been injured, traumatized and in many cases lost their life.
Then we have a weak parole board more interested in emptying the jail's than looking after the citizens of the country.
How is that working???
Not too well as far as I can see.
The husband of an acquaintance of mine was in court being charged with cultivating, selling and supplying marijuana, in a large quantity and also corruption of a minor.
He received three 4 year sentences, which were made cumulative, which means a total of four years. Funny, when I went to school three times four made twelve.
He was released after one year.
What a joke.
He went back doing the same thing after he was released.

Forget giving these scum a whipping with a cat o' nine tails. That's for pussies. And heals after a month or so.

Try a one metre length of 25 mm ID flexible polyethylene tubing inserted into a certain bodily orifice followed by threading barbed or razor wire inside the tube. Then slowly withdraw the tubing, leaving the barbed or razor wire behind. Good luck pulling that out without doing irreparable damage. Enjoy the rest of your life with a colostomy bag - if you survive the resultant major surgery!

Gutless dogs the whole lot of them!

How is this Albo's fault?? Many violent crimes have been committed whilst other Prime Ministers have been in charge. So are you saying that any current Prime Minister is responsible for violent crimes??

Yeah! Same as blaming me, as a white Anglo-Saxon, for what happened to Indigenous Australians over 200 years ago.

Yes these poor people it must have been really scary for them. Everybody should feel safe in their own homes.

Who is responsible for the laws of the land!!
I'm afraid to say no matter how many laws are in place for everything, people will/and do consistently break them. For example, how many people get caught drink driving each day? Despite laws in place to deter this people still drink and drive.

Laws are made to be broken. An unwritten law cannot be broken.

I have been caught drink driving four times in three different states. Getting caught the first time was not a deterrent for the next three times.
