Can You Solve This Pencil Riddle in 20 Seconds? Find Out If You're Smarter Than Most!
People frequently describe themselves as either right-brained or left-brained. But what does that actually imply, and how do you identify which one you are?
As it turns out, one method of figuring it out is through solving riddles.
A new video has gone viral on social media after fans become perplexed by a visual riddle that appears like it should have an obvious solution.
The visual riddle goes as this:
On a desk, ten pencils are arranged in four groups with one pencil's width between each group.
Four pencils are in the group on the left, followed by three, a pair of two, and a single pencil.
In order to make the pencils in the leftmost group have one pencil and the rightmost group have four, the viewer must move one pencil as directed in the riddle.
It was said that persons who are left-brain dominant may find the solution more easily, compared to right-brained people.
[WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD]
In order to answer the riddle, move the second pencil from the left group to the vacant space between the pair of two and the single pencil. Each group now has one to four pencils, with the number of pencils in increasing order from left to right.
How quickly someone can solve the problem depends in part on their spatial reasoning skills.
Your mind's eye is used in spatial thinking to visualise three-dimensional space.
Everyday activities such as reading maps, putting together furniture or technology, exercising, and participating in sports all require the application of spatial thinking skills.

The Institute of Education Sciences received a $1.6 million grant last year to support researchers' work on approaches to teach these abilities to children.
The research centre said: “Spatial reasoning is critical to student achievement, particularly in early math skills.”
“At later grades, it is a gateway skill to persistence in engineering, chemistry, geoscience and other STEM fields.”
Both left and right-brained people can enjoy solving riddles, and both can benefit from the challenge of riddles.
Riddles can help to improve problem-solving skills, and can also be a fun and enjoyable way to pass the time.

Answer: Pull a piece of fruit from the “Apples and Oranges crate. Let’s say you pull an apple out. That crate is full of apples. That means that the crate labelled oranges have to be apples & oranges because apples are already taken, and it is mislabeled. That leaves the remaining crate to be oranges.
Riddle 2: We sound like Eden as a pair. Make us weight, we won't play fair. Sometimes consensus, most times schism. Usually locked away in prism. If by chance you seek, then throw. The serpent sees where we meet low. We carry freight when we meet high. But separate us, and we die.
Answer: A pair of dice. Sounds like "paradise", weighted dice, dice rolls = gambling, snake eyes, separate dice = die.
Riddle 3: When you take me out of a window, you leave a grieving wife. When you stick me in a door, you will save somebody’s life.
Answer: The letter n.
