Bumpy Landing

Just after a very hard landing in Salt Lake City.
The flight attendant came on the intercom and said,
'That was quite a bump, and I know what y'all are thinking.
I'm here to tell you it wasn't the airline's fault,
it wasn't the pilot's fault, it wasn't the flight attendant's fault,
it was the asphalt.'

Stealing this line when driving over a rough patch! 😂

Don't get it, what's the joke?

Oh Dougal, maybe you need to stop reading the jokes, because so often you don’t get them. 🤣🤣
An intended joke issued in the public arena must be able to be "got" by all.

The SDC should peer review all submitted "jokes" prior to publication to ensure that all readers will get the joke; and also edit US-centric words and replace them with suitable Aussie equivalents.

Is Salt Lake City somehow relevant to the joke?

If not, then replace with an Aussie city.

Maybe it is a pun i.e. Asphalt = ass felt. or as it is an American attempt at humour it could be Arse Felt.

After reviewing all the comments, the penny has dropped and
I have now got the joke.

Asphalt comprises two words: Asp and Halt.

Asp is a snake and halt means stop; ie: asphalt means a sign
which states "STOP THERE ARE SNAKES"

The pilot ignored the sign and the plane slid on a snake.

That's hilarious
