The pies at my local Vietnamese bakery are pretty good. The pastry is light and fluffy and the tops are quite high. Lots of different fillings, too.

Sorry, but I just don't get all the fiddling around with the filo. Why not just put it in the quiche plate as usual, or even use frozen shortcrust pastry (which is also dead easy to make).

Sadly, the David Jones' men's store on the corner of Market and Castlereagh Streets is no more. It is being converted into luxury apartments where no-one will live and some luxury boutiques where no-one can afford to shop. I avoid going into the City now as it is too revolting.

I recently traveled to New Zealand and back on frequent flyer points. I used Flybuys points for my trip from Sydney to Auckland and two domestic flights. Coming home I used my Qantas Frequent Flyer points and upgraded to business class for $143. Not bad!

I use Sachi shopping bags after I have wiped down the trolley. Problem solved!

I'm planning to leave the bulk of my estate to my grandchildren. My two children have had enough from me already.
