Woolworths Checkout Hack: How to get through the line faster than everyone else

We've all been there. You're standing in line at the self-serve checkout, ready to pay for your purchase and be on your way. But then, the receipt starts printing... and printing... and printing.

It's so annoying! Why can't the receipt just print out quickly?

Well, if you're one of those people who don't like waiting for the receipt to print out after you paid for your groceries, we've got great news for you!

Thanks to a little-known checkout trick, Woolworths customers can now get paperless receipts and avoid that annoying wait.

Additionally, this checkout trick is not only great for cutting down on paper use, but it also makes it easy to keep track of your spending.

So, how exactly can Woolies shoppers take advantage of this new feature?

The process is simple: customers only need to log in to their Everyday Rewards app, click on the "Account Page", and update their receipt preferences.

Voila! All subsequent receipts of purchases will be digitally recorded in the app from thereafter.

It should be noted that shoppers can use the eReceipts for refunds if necessary, saving you the trouble of scrambling through bags and wallets to retrieve the paper receipts.

Additionally, customers who choose the digital option are helping the environment by having all of their paperwork in one place, as some customers may not be aware that paper receipts cannot be recycled because of the thin plastic film that covers the printer.

Woolworths Everyday Rewards managing director Hannah Ross said that while the retailer introduced the feature in June last year, customers are only catching up with the new feature recently.

"Our eReceipts functionality available within the Everyday Rewards app was launched with the goal of streamlining the checkout experience for customers, while also supporting our wider group sustainability commitments," she said.

“We are pleased to see eReceipts are proving popular with Everyday Rewards members, with over one million shoppers now opting out of paper receipts, saving on average 13 metres of paper per customer, every year.”

It was said that since its release last year, millions of customers have switched to eReceipts and ditched paper receipts.

I want my receipt printed out so I can check the price charged compared with the price on the shelf. It's surprising how much free food I have had from Woolworths because the charge was higher than the shelf price. At one time I had a lot of frozen chips in my freezer because they didn't change their shelf price for weeks but the checkout price was higher. Over to the enquiry desk I went, got refunded what I had been charged.

Cheap as Chips has this now too. They had trouble with their printer the other day so they asked if I would like an emailed receipt.

So can you still get the special deals that are on the back e.g. Sunday paper for $1 off ?

As I only shop online these days I have no problems with receipts. All my invoices are available on my laptop should I wish to check them.:)

Horsefeathers! How much time do you REALLY save? It takes you longer to sling your self-provided shopping bags back into your trolley than the docket will take to print.

If you seriously want to save time at the checkout, especially if you are waiting one-back from the previous customer, place all your items on the conveyor with the barcodes facing the scanner. It will save you time and the checkout operator RSI.

If you seriously want to save money, make a point of looking through your docket before you pass Customer Service; ESPECIALLY in the case of Woolworths. Hardly a week goes by at my local Wobbly without there being a scanning error, usually resulting in a free item and frequently with a reduced-price refund. The time you saved at the checkout will be spent waiting at Customer Service, sure, but there IS something in it for YOU!

Good idea to go paperless, but I get printed copies to check off against my bank statements monthly. Not-that-Old Accountant's habit....LOL!

But seriously, the receipt takes no time to print out. Do people make up issues just to complain about something? Life and time aren't that short that a few seconds waiting for the receipt will drastically affect your wellbeing. Besides, by the time you put your shop back into the trolley the receipt is done.

We spend ages in line waiting our turn because they've only got one or two checkouts open. We spend a few minutes unloading a cart full of groceries. We spend several minutes waiting for each item to be scanned one at a time (either by ourselves or the checkout person). Then the trolley has to be loaded up again so we can leave the store. And yet, the 1-2 seconds that it takes for the receipt to be printed is a big issue? Seriously?
