Woman's 'surprise' for her parents on their 30th wedding anniversary goes hilariously viral - 'That's heartbreaking!'

Any of our members who are married or in long-term relationships know that anniversaries are a very big deal. It's not just about celebrating the day you tied the knot – it's a yearly reminder of how far you and your partner have come together, and how much your love has grown over time. And celebrating an anniversary is something everyone can get involved in, including the kids…

Which brings us to one very thoughtful daughter, Megan, who decided to order a vanilla cake in the shape of the number ‘30’ for her parents’ 30th wedding anniversary. She even had an exact visual of what she wanted and shared it with the bakery she ordered her cake from - how thoughtful and organised!

Not to mention, what is more thoughtful and sweet than a gorgeous custom cake? Well… You’d think so anyway.

The cake that Megan envisioned was gorgeous. She wanted an intricately-piped vanilla cake, with pearl detail, to of course mark her parents’ milestone pearl wedding anniversary. She shared a photo of the cake she wanted - the same photo she shared with the bakery - on her TikTok. You can see the photo below.

Now, let’s just say when Megan received her order on her parents’ big day, she was bitterly disappointed. ‘What I asked for vs what I got,’ she captioned her video on TikTok.

The finished cake appeared to be a lazily-designed ‘30’ cake, strangely without any holes for the numbers. In fact, the number 3 looked suspiciously like the letter ‘M’ just turned to the side (at least we think so anyway), and the ‘0’ well, just kind of looked like a cake?

The piping looked nothing like the gorgeous pearl frosting she had requested. And speaking of pearls, there were absolutely none on the cake. Instead, the bakery popped what appears to be fake wedding rings on top of the cake, that appear to be plastic and inedible.

Megan's relatable cake ‘fail’ seemed to resonate with plenty of TikTok users, with her video garnering more than 1.5 million views, with plenty of amused and unimpressed commenters.

‘No way,’ one person wrote. ‘I'd be asking for my money back.’

‘How can they get it wrong?! It's one of the simpler designs,’ another asked.

One added: ‘That's hilarious. It's heartbreaking. Hope you never paid.’

If you ask me, so long as it tasted good, I don’t think Mum and Dad would mind, and I am sure there were plenty of laughs from the family on the day of the anniversary! You can see Megan was quite amused herself in the video below.

Megan never confirmed whether she complained about the state of the cake or if she requested a refund, and I guess we will never know! What would you do in this situation, members? Would you ask for a refund? Or just have a good laugh at the situation? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!

So did Megan stand up for herself & refuse payment for that crap effort or did she just straight away hop onto TikTok (the losers site, that uses people& their information based in China!!!) & have a big whinge! Probably the latter I’m guessing!!

I would definitely not paid for it and if I paid a deposit would have requested that back as well . Then asked for the cake as compensation and either fixed it up my self or had it as is and had a laugh at it.

If it was me though I would have just made a beautiful cake . Number cakes are very easy

Not sure, but I'm guessing she would have had to pay a decent percentage as a deposit...
I'd be asking for my deposit back if she did pay one that cake is not even close to what she ordered if they can't do it they shouldn't have taken the order

I definitely would have requested a refund if I paid a deposit.
There's no way I'd have taken the cake away with me.
I'd seek them to co-operate and provide me with a cake matching my photos. If they didn't co-operate, I'd tell them I would go to social media to display the quality of goods they provide.
No threats, just a promise.

Definitely disappointing for Megan, or was it judging by the chortle on the video? l feel a refund should have been automatic from the bakery if she had complained to them. If that was the photo supplied as stated, this was very clear to see what was wanted.

As stated above, Megan could just as easily have made these herself & avoided the extra cost ( & ultimately the desire to share this with the world on TikTok ).
I can see that the cut outs in the #3 could be outlined with a round cookie cutter together with the inside of the #0. An outside shape could be made with a bowl or plate.

Is this yet another example of American mentality, a need to draw attention to yourself via TikTok? I hope not! Too many American cultures have already crept into our life styles ( as have been stated in previous articles here ).
