Woman’s bizarre method of cleaning vegetables leaves thousands of jaws on the floor – “WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU ALL?”

Although TikTok has been constantly providing us folks with life-changing hacks, there are still plenty of self-proclaimed home hacks gurus that are either completely unaware that their tips are downright ridiculous or just want to see if anyone will actually try their ridiculous ‘hacks’. At the very least, the absurdity usually leaves most of us in hearty fits of laughter.

One woman’s ‘ludicrous’ method of washing veggies has left thousands doing a double-take. Ashley Echols, under the username @ashleyechols777 on TikTok, urged people to wash their greens in her TikTok post as she demonstrates her controversial trick.

A generous amount of kale and spinach leaves can be seen undergoing a cleaning session like never before but there’s a catch… Can you guess what it is?

Well, when Ashley said ‘Wash your greens’, she took things quite literally and popped the vegetables in her washing machine just as one would when cleaning a regular load of laundry (without the suds, of course). And yes, you read that right.

After a thorough spin, she flashes a cheeky grin and places the leafy greens in a plastic tub.

Ashley detailed that she disinfects her washing machine with a white vinegar cycle before and after cleaning the vegetables, but thousands of TikTok users weren’t impressed with her "life hack" despite the disclaimer.

“Do you make kale chips by placing the kale in the dryer?” one user teased.

“So this is why coriander tastes like soap…” said another.

“You are giving us more reasons NOT to participate in potlucks.” a third wrote.

A fourth chimed: “Don’t smile at us! This is ludicrous!” alongside several laughing emojis.

“My ancestors just whooped my a** for even thinking about doing this.” joked another.

“I’M CALLING THE POLICE!” a sixth poked fun at the hack.

“What is wrong with you all?!” asked one more.

It seems that only one user approved of the cleaning hack, stating: “They clean the washer out again before using it for cleaning clothes. It really does clean your greens really well… All you ‘judgey’ people need to calm down.”

However, another person warned: “My nan did this and we got food poisoning for WEEKS. I stopped eating green vegetables.”

And one more urged others: “Don't do this. The greens could damage the machine. Also, you could be transferring bacteria to your produce."

Well, there’s only one question left unanswered… Does she separate the light-coloured vegetables from the dark ones too? What do YOU think of this hack? Do you think it’s absurd or brilliant? Share your thoughts with us in the comments!

I know someone who washed rice by putting it in the sink with sudsy water

Isn’t there a certain amount of (dirty) water etc left in the bottom of the machine after each use. I wouldn’t like that going through my greens and other vegetables. I shiver just thinking about it :(

Lazy, unhygienic and stupid. Not to mention unnecessary use of electricity, time and machine not designed for that purpose.
