When did you know it was the right time to propose?

Hey members! I hope you're all doing well!

I just want to hop on here again to share something exciting happening in my life. As many of you know, I've been in a loving relationship with my partner, CJ, for quite some time now, and lately, I've been considering taking a big step and popping the question.

To clarify, I'm not feeling pressured by all the engagements around me. However, I believe CJ is my soulmate, and I can't imagine spending the rest of my life with anyone else. ☺️

That being said, I'm a bit nervous about timing. When is the right time to propose? I turn to all of you for your wisdom and advice. When did you know it was the right time to pop the question to your significant other? Did you have any doubts or fears, and how did you overcome them? Share your beautiful and heartwarming proposal stories with the community and help me navigate this exciting and nerve-wracking time.

I can't wait to read all your responses about love, relationships, and proposals. :)

Mine just said 'I think it's time we get married ' , I asked why ? He replied well with four kids I think we are ment to do it.

I will share with you my daughters proposal which happened early last year.

She has been with her partner for years and my other daughter and son inlaw helped her partner with his proposal plans. They were going to asked future son inlaw to be Godfather to their son, they had already asked him without my daughter knowing. They planned a dinner at the Star casino and daughter thought it was to asked her partner to be Godfather. She thought it was going to be a surprise.

Now my daughter always told her partner that if and when he proposed that she wanted her family there.

So her partner got the penthouse apartment at the Star for the weekend and on the afternoon of proposal we went in and set everything up.

They went to dinner and my daughter and son inlaw told them they had gotten a room there and if they wanted to go up for a drink and see the view.

We knew when they were coming up and hid.
When they walked in my daughter went in first and walked over to see what we had set up , then realised what was happening, when she turned around her partner was on his knee.

When he popped the question and she said yes we then all jumped out from our hiding places and the look on her face was priceless .

It was myself, hubby and 10 of my 13 kids

I wished I could post the video

I first met my wife on a blind date but she was my mates date. Here we are 50 years later still loving each other. When we married I was a week off 21 y.o. and she was 18. They said it wouldnt last but look at us now.

I met my wife on the ship we were migrating on. We became very good friends. The only problem was she was returning to her family in Adelaide, and l was coming to Melbourne. Our relationship blossomed through writing letters and the odd phone call. A few months after getting a job, l flew over to see her and meet her family. A bit scary. But all went well. Proposal time was based on affordability . Had been saving hard for a house deposit and of course a nice ring. You just know he or she is "The One". After two years l proposed over the phone. We married and got a house year later. This September we celebrate our 50th anniversary.

I had the attitude if it happens it happens and I wasn't looking due to my job travelling all over NSW not staying long in each place.
I knew the minute I saw my future wife. We both felt the same.
After we met in late October I went to NZ for a 5 week holiday. Our love strengthened.
Easter she met my parents.
I wanted to propose as I knew I would be a long way away for quite a while. I took her for a drive late one afternoon and ended up parking near the cemetery. I stopped the car and asked her if she would like to spend the rest of her life with me. She said yes! I thought she was crying but it was the horse in a paddock nearby!! We spent months apart at a time. I picked our wedding day so I'd never forget it like so many blokes do.
So we were married 2nd January 1982, 8 months later.
We bought everything for the wedding in Sydney. Wedding dress, bridesmaid dresses and flowers. When they were ready they sent everything by rail to Warren NSW where my wife lived. When they arrived a bridesmaid dress and all the flowers were wrecked! Luckily we had time to get them replaced. We were married in Dubbo NSW, one of the hottest days ever!
We have 3 kids and 2 grandkids and still going strong.

I waited till she was preggos ... well we had two children and 20yrs together and she took off to ""to find herself"..So what could I do .... told her to look in a mirror more often..NOPE didn't work ... I thisk she is still lost cause she still hasn't come back ..Maybe she lost the address.
Well, that was 35 yrs ago so I have moved on .. just got sick of waiting.

Anytime is the right time as long as it's your choice. Remember this is your life we are talking about. Don't get married because someone else wants you too. Good way to find out if your partner feels the same way you could ask them over a lovely dinner "do you ever think of us getting married" or something like that. Remember to keep it very light in tone, and in that way you will know how they feel about it too. And if they say "Yes" then pop the question. So make sure you have the ring on you that night.

He looks like a bower bird coaching his choice of partners into the nest he made for her attention.:love:(y)😇

Hi Vella.

Sounds like you already know. So just make it special without over the top gestures. After all, you shouldn't be expected to spending the rest of your life trying to out do what you did for your engagement. ( hope she doesn't read your column, otherwise the cats out of the bag 😬)

Myself, I did make a special effort. Though it was simple and meaningful. In that I proposed in the location we met.

Having said all that, may CJ and yourself surround yourself with family and friends to share your love. Remember, the good and great times will always outshine the not so good ones. May strength, courage, confidence, wisdom and kindness enhance your love for each other.

Love is love. It sounds as if you've already made your mind up. Now it just needs a romantic setting to pop the question. Good luck and I hope she says yes! 👩‍❤️‍👩❤️💖
We had known each other for 30 odd years but when I mentioned it she wouldn't give an answer so I came up with the idea she picks the date without knowing it. It went like pick a number up to 31 she chose 3 then a number up to 12 she chose 4 so we were married at Whiteman park w.a. at 12.15 pm 3rd of April 1999 all the yesses came out it was a good day all the family's with kids running around picking up lollies that I threw handfull at a time plenty to eat and drink for all no mess was left because there were big bins all around. But jeez I miss her she died from a blood clot at 10.15 pm 16/09/2016 it's a lonely life when your love and best mate pass on .
