Sweet😍I used to give my mum flowers every time I saw her or english cheeses which she loved and my auntie as she never had kids also. Still don’t know why my mum hated my auntie she would never tell me.🤔and mum told me off for giving her stuff. Strange and I’ll never know.😊
As my grandmother said to certain questions I will take it to my grave, and she did

What's better than your husband giving you flowers ? Is when your kids give them to let you know how much you are loved and appreciated.

My daughter just called in to have a coffee and give me these and said it was because of all the above .

Gorgeous.

So very true, I see alot of young couples wasting money. My son inlaw takes my daughter out maybe once a month to their favourite restaurant where they order their favourite steak. The steak by itself without salad ect or drinks or dessert is $120 per steak
Pure extravagance & l am sure unnecessary.

Young people don't seem to appreciate the value of money today.

I was hitchhiking around Italy from the UK, with a girlfriend back in the 60s and we stayed at a Youth Hostel. I was tiny and had a very short hairdo. I was playing cards with a group of Swedish and German guys when I heard a voice say, "Jeez, are you a sheila?" I whispered, "What language is that?" The Swedish guy said, "He is Australian and is asking if you are a girl".
The Australian followed me back to England and four months later we married. We just celebrated our 58th wedding anniversary and the birth of our first greatgrandchild.

Whoa, that is very expensive steak. I would never want to pay that for a piece of steak even if I could afford it. Good to have a date night, and if they can afford to indulge good for them. Most of our date nights now are takeaway, a frozen meal, or just having a sandwich for tea. The rule is no cooking. We prefer to stay at home now with the cost of eating out and all our aches and pains making the effort to get ready and go out not much fun for us.

Our date night is grabbing takeaway and going to the beach or park and our takeaway is either subway or Chinese takeaway

I met my husband at the Mitchum Pub the day I buried a good friend of mine. I was so sad and down. By the end of the night I knew that I had met the man for me. This was a Friday and I moved into his house the following Wednesday. That was 34 years ago and he still picks me up when I’m feeling sad Love him to bits. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I met my wife in 1969 at the pharmacy she worked at around the corner from where l lived. They had an Agency for the Commonwealth Bank & l made regular deposits for a car, [also where we had our prescriptions filled]. She always did my deposits for me.

I bought my first car on December 31st, 1969. One day early in January 1970 l went in to do banking, she came over, l presented my Bank Book opened which showed a large withdrawl, she took a look as l handed her my deposit & looked up at me. All l said was, 'The rest of it is outside', while nodding to my right where it was parked outside. I had to laugh because as she craned her neck she asked, 'Have you got a car?' 'Yes & l'll take you for a drive in it one day', l said. Her reply was, 'I'll take you up on that one day'. I got her address, l thought. Next time l went into the shop she had gone on holiday with her mother. I drove the street looking for her home, found nothing & had to wait until she returned when l got the proper address. The Friday night l went to her home l told her l'd just had a birthday & it turned out hers would be in a few days. Both born in the same year 5 days apart. When my father asked me a week later what her Surname was, l had to admit l didn't know.

That was 54 years ago this month & in May we have been married 52 years with 4 children & 6 grandchildren.

Beautiful story Ezzy. 😍

My man and I found each other because of our love of dancing cheek to cheek.
I went out with a girl friend. Popped into the dance room to have a sticky beak.
A handsome young man asked me to dance, I said yes and we have been an item ever since.
We knew we were meant to be after that first dance, no question about it.
The proposal was nothing more than us deciding to stop this dilly dallying about and take the final step as soon as possible.
After 44 years together, we are finally getting used to each other. The occasional dance in the lounge room brings back the good days, but we are nowhere as nimble now as we used to be. It's more like a totter together, but it is always nice to hold each other they way you do when you dance.
Life is good when you find someone special to share it with you.
There are times to laugh and time to cry, but it has always been together.
We have never been apart for even a night and are comforted by our closeness still after all these years.
Further to the way we met, I'll let the youngsters around me know that it never has to die. True love is in the feeling you have when close to your nearest and dearest.
This morning I was driving hubby to a doctor's appointment. We stopped at the lights when he reached across and held my hand while waiting for the green light. I got those same butterflies in the tummy that hit me 47 years ago. Just a touch. That's all it takes.

My nursing friend got a phone call from a guy she sort of knew asking her for a date. she declined, already having a boyfriend. She told him I would go on a blind date with him, I was there saying no, no, no, but she organised it anyway. Not wanting to let him down I was dressed and waiting when he came to pick me up. He was 6’3” tall, I was 5’. Both of us thought no way it would work for us. We went to a picture theatre that night. When he dropped me back at the nurses home he asked me if I would go out with him again. I liked him so said yes, and he said he would ring me. He didn’t ring. everyone said I wouldn’t hear from him again. About two weeks later I was at home at my parents when I got a phone call from his mother, he had asked her to ring me, all he knew was my name and the name of the country town near where I lived. His mum had looked up the phone book and started ringing everybody listed with the same surname as me, looking for me. After ringing almost everyone listed she found me, we were almost the last name on the one and a half pages list of people with the same surname in that area. She told me he was really sick with a bad flu and would love it if he could still ring me after he recovered. She told me he was so worried I’d say no since I hadn’t heard from him. I said yes. I would have loved to have gone and visited him but as a trainee nurse had to be careful I didn’t take any infections into the hospital. Long story short as soon as he was well he rang me, we went out. We both knew we were in love after our second date, engaged in under three months, married in under twelve months ( we only waited so I could finish my nurses training). We will celebrate our 50th anniversary in May this year. Our marriage has been and still is full of love.
Our Wedding Anniversary is May 6th. Can l please ask what date yours is? Thankyou.

It was November when I met my husband approx. 56 years ago while swimming at the local pool with my girlfriend.
I was 15 and smitten with this young handsome young boy, he was 17. We spoke briefly and exchanged phone numbers, he called on the phone a few times and came to my house to visit a couple of times and we would sit on the front veranda and talk, he lived a few suburbs away so public transport was not an option, so he would walk the 5kms to my house.
I had not heard from him for about 3 weeks, and I was worried if he was going to call me again.
It was on Valentines Day I went to the letter box and found an envelope with my name on it. Inside was a card and on the Front was a picture of a cave man trying to smash a rock.
The inside message read.
"Since I saw you last, I have invented something New."
"Loneliness"
I love you, Kevin.
This made my heart melt, and we were married 3 years later and worked our way around Australia in an Old Viscount caravan for 3 1/2 years before settling back in Melbourne and starting our family. Our bond is still growing stronger everyday.

46 years ago I took a call to arrange a driving lesson for a seventoon year old girl called Lynne , at the time I was a driving instructor, I went to the door where she lived with an umbrella as it was raining , as she came out the door I knew she was the one but I was 24 and considered a bit to old by her parents , test day three weeks later I told her if she passed I would take her out for dinner which she did and we went out the following Friday , she looked confused with the menu so I suggested I order for both of us , I ordered Steak Diane for both of us , she hated it but never said anything , we got married three years later , lucky girl .

Me (aged 15) in boarding school run by Catholic nuns, hubby’s sister in my class but a day-schooler. Hubby & friends often walked past boarding school & the girls would sit on back steps upstairs watching them go by!

Invited by his sister to visit their family then he doubled me back on his bike (luckily nuns didn’t seen me being dropped off at school gates by a boy!). That year his mum sent him a parcel (he was doing an apprenticeship in the city where I lived). He picked it up from my home.

About 6 months later - bingo - we started dating. We got engaged with my parents’ permission when I was 19 and months later I moved to Australia with my family, but he stayed behind till he’d saved enough to follow. Two and a half years later he arrived and 9 months after his arrival we married but continued to spend months at a time apart due to his job.

Now 56 and a half years and 3 children later, we’re still married and very much still in love, retired, making up for lost time by spending every moment together and going everywhere together. I’ll be devastated when the time comes, but until then & beyond - “I still love you very much *****”. At least a card is still exchanged every Valentine’s Day (but flowers were also until recently) when we’ve decided we don’t need to spend extra to prove our love.

In 1977 I met my wife in a operating theatre, (British Army Hospital in Aldershot) she being a student nurse and I trainee Operating Theatre Technician in the Royal Army Medical Corps. Showing off while transferring a patient from the trolley to the operating table, I accidently put a stretcher ash pole through the frosted double glazed window. She laughed so loudly I instantly had a disliking for her. Two years later, we met again, at QEMH Woolwich Hospital bar, this time we had a good laugh about it and became good friends. Our first Valentine date was at the Royal Albert Hall in London watching/listening the LSO version of 'classic Rock. This will be our 45th Valentine's day together.
