TikToker's 3 natural slug control hacks will save your garden from those pesky bugs!
Heavy rains in some parts of Australia have created the perfect environment for slugs and snails. The problem is that these slimy creatures love to munch on plants, causing severe damage to gardens. And surely you wouldn't want your favourite plant to be their next meal.

Fortunately, there are a variety of solutions that you can do to get rid of slugs without using any harmful chemicals. Here are three natural slug control hacks that a TikToker has shared and might just save your garden.
In a video, on her TikTok account @perkyplantparent, enthusiastic gardener Angel shared three methods she uses to get rid of slugs.
Her first suggestion will literally blow up your mind as it isn't the first thing that we can typically think of when trying to get rid of slugs, but it's definitely a product in many Aussie's fridges— beer!

To build a beer trap, Angel says all you have to do is pour it into a jar with a teaspoon of sugar and a packet of yeast. Then just bury the jar in the garden, levelling the top with the soil.
"They can't resist it, and they'll drown," Angel said in the video.
It's like making the slugs drunk! Anyway, it's easy peasy!
Angel's second recommendation is to sprinkle the bottoms of your plants with diatomaceous earth or egg shells.
So, the next time you cook with eggs, consider saving the eggshells to plant in your garden. But, unlike the other one, you're probably wondering how it would kill the slugs? Well, Angel has the answer for you.
'They'll crawl across it, it will cut them up, and they'll die,' she said.
Uh-ha! Who has ever thought that the egg shells we usually just throw in the garbage could be some sort of chainsaw for the slugs as they walk through it? Amazing, eh?
So we have drowned them and cut them into pieces (so we’re feeling a bit bad). A bit brutal, right? What about thinking of something a bit gentle?
Angel's last suggestion wouldn't be to kill or torture the slugs. You just have to get a piece of wood, let them crawl under it 'for shade', gather them up, and their life will be under your jurisdiction. Better choose the best method of death for the slugs.

Angel's fans, who are always entertained by her cheerful presenting style, love these tips.
'They can't resist it, and they will drown!’ ’they'll crawl across it and get cut up and die!’ love the big smiled delivery of these tips', a woman said.
'Loving the cheerfulness as you describe the method of death!" one posted in the comments, a follower wrote.
'Love my diatomaceous earth... use it all the time.' said the third user.
However, there are many other natural techniques to try if beer, egg shells, and wood aren't your thing.
Scattering orange peels around your plants is another simple solution. This approach is also found to be very effective against other pests.
"They contain a natural insecticide called delimonine which can help repel aphids, slugs, mosquitos and white flies. It's even been known to keep out furry critters, including our pets: cats and dogs," said a TikToker @theashtonhomestead.
So, what are you waiting for? If you're having trouble with slugs, give these natural methods a try. They just might save your garden! What do you think? Let us know in the comment section below!
