On some occasions there is a dress code that maybe required by the host that all guests must wear. Weddings are one of those occasions. For the bride and groom the wedding day is extremely important and they usually like their guests to comply with the dress code. Note that group photos are taken at the weddings and one or two non-compliant dress codes tend to "spoil" the photos for the couple. It is unclear from the article whether there was a dress code for this wedding, so I can't comment on the appropriateness of the dress for this wedding. The dress does not look good to me at all. I am not concerned about churches.
Recently I attended a formal wedding where even the kids were formally dressed i.e. black suit and tie. This dress code was very clearly communicated in the wedding invite, to the extent that dress code was described in some detail. Women and girls were in amazing dresses. Everyone looked fantastic. But then one guy turned up in casual clothing, not even in a suit. That was totally inconsiderate and inappropriate. There were a few people who commented on it. But that is the way some people are, they don't consider the impact they have on the hosts of their actions. It is all about them. You can't change them no matter what!

I would much rather see a dress that fits and covers most parts, than the ones that have very little holding a whole lot in. Exposed breasts and crotches are ugly. This dress may not be everyone's taste, but it is her choice and I think she wears it well.
