This wedding guest’s dress causes outrage on social media for being too ‘racy’

We know that weddings are becoming more and more relaxed these days, with couples ditching a lot of the traditional rules and expectations in favour of doing things their own way.

However, even though times are changing, there are still some things that people generally consider to be inappropriate for a wedding – like wearing white if you’re not the bride, being too rowdy during the ceremony, or in this case, wearing a risqué dress in a church.

Weddings are a time to celebrate love and commitment, but they can also be a source of drama – especially when it comes to what guests wear.

And recently, a woman was slammed on social media for wearing a racy dress that others deemed as ‘trashy’ and ‘tacky’.

The photo was posted in a Facebook group, and the original poster shared that a guest wore the dress to a conservative, church wedding.

The thigh-length dress featured see-through fabric that wrapped around the woman’s torso, with the bust being the only part that was covered.

Social media users were upset over the woman’s choice of clothing, and many described it as something one would wear to a nightclub and not a church wedding.

‘This dress is ugly first of all, and secondly, it’s not appropriate for a wedding, especially one in a church,’ one replied to the post.

Another said that it was a ‘trashy-looking dress’ for any wedding. While a third responded with: ‘There is a time and a place and this is tacky. I say this as someone who goes clubbing. Also, the dress is just ugly.’

Someone else admitted that there’s nothing wrong if the woman wanted to make a ‘statement’ by wearing a ‘clubbing outfit’ to a church, but wearing something too revealing at someone else’s wedding is too much.

‘There’s nothing wrong with the dress itself (except that it looks poorly-made and ill-fitting), but it’s “inappropriate” in a similar way that wearing sweatpants or white is inappropriate for a wedding,’ another user explained.

‘Yes, these are “silly” societal rules, but rules that you should stick to protesting at your own wedding,’ the same person added.

Someone else claimed that they’d heard of priests not letting people inside the church because their attire was deemed inappropriate.

‘I’m not for extreme rules, but if you’re entering a church of any kind, you should have some respect and dress properly,’ they said.

However, others couldn’t find fault in the outfit. One Facebook user wrote: ‘There is absolutely nothing disrespectful about wearing this dress to a church.’

A second added: ‘Maybe the conservative church-goers should stop being so offended by everything.’
