1. Veteran actor Martin Vaughan, best known for Power Without Glory and Phar Lap, passed away at the age of 91.

2. If you have an Android smartphone or tablet, you could be at risk from a new malware attack. It's been reported that Google has removed the offending apps - of which there are 36 - from its app store, but you'll still need to remove them manually if you have any of them currently installed on your devices.

3. The largest pension increase in more than 12 years was announced as the cost of living soared. Welfare payments are expected to receive the highest indexation hike in up to 30 years.

4. The mobile market has changed drastically over the last few decades. New models with faster processors, more camera megapixels, and longer battery lives spring onto the shelves every year, exciting both first-time purchasers and seasoned phone connoisseurs alike. Could your old phone be worth thousands?

5. 2022-3 Federal Budget: What does it mean for you? We looked at the available budget information and what we could expect in terms of support for pensioners. There are a few surprises here and there so stay tuned for everything you need to know.

6. Pensions are an important part of many people's retirement planning, and it's crucial that they keep up with inflation. Unfortunately, pensioners have been feeling the pinch in recent years, as the cost of living continues to skyrocket. In a recent speech, Treasurer Jim Chalmers assured the public that the federal government is determined to make sure that pensioners don't fall further behind as inflation rises.

7. Big cash splash under the cost of living concession helps thousands of Australians. Around 192,000 South Australians received up to $449 in cash directly into their bank accounts as part of a programme that was launched earlier this year in the state budget and is intended to help low-income earners and retirees who are struggling.

8. Now, everyone here knows we love a discount. We aren’t called the ‘Seniors Discount Club’ for nothing! But did you know that Kmart has a pensioner discount program? Well, we didn’t, but thanks to a Facebook post we recently discovered that Kmart offers a 5% discount to pensioners but there is a catch… Well, if you're a pensioner, you're in luck – at least when it comes to Kmart.

9. The banning of single-use plastic has been a topic of debate among legislators for years. Some argue that it’s a necessary step to reduce pollution, while others claim that it would be too disruptive to businesses and consumers. In a recent law enacted by the NSW government, residents may soon face significant fines of up to $11,000 for distributing or transporting single-use plastic products.

10. There's something special about hearing insider tips from store employees. They know the ins and outs of the stores they work in, and they often have access to information that shoppers don't. So, for those of you trying to get festive a little bit earlier or intending to stock up on Christmas-themed décor for next year, we've got news for you so you can make the most of boxing day sales!

11. Several users suggested that making the switch to ALDI has helped them save heaps of money, with one mum even claiming to have cut her annual grocery bill by a whopping $15,000 after making the decision to become a loyal customer of the German budget retailer. While it's true that ALDI is offering some of the most tempting affordable alternatives, are the goods actually… well, any good?

12. Former Channel Nine star Cameron Williams is no stranger to the public eye, but unfortunately, it’s for all the wrong reasons this time. The veteran sports presenter has been charged with one count of common assault against his wife Natasha Russo and faced Singleton Local Court on Thursday, November 24.

13. You can always count on the German supermarket chain, ALDI, to have great prices. But even we have to admit that sometimes, you really do get what you pay for. And in this case, it appears that an ALDI shopper got a little more than they bargained for...

14. The cost of living seems to be increasing every day, with what feels like little being done to help vulnerable Aussies cope with their new reality. But there could soon be some relief for those who are doing it tough, with the announcement that welfare payments will be increased for millions of Australians.

15. Due to a recent incidence of foodborne illnesses caused by a dangerous chemical, poppy seeds were urgently recalled around the country. Were you affected?

16. Stains are the bane of every homemaker's existence. It seems like no matter how careful you are, something always manages to get stained. And when it comes to trying to remove those stains, it can be a real headache. There are millions of products out there that claim to remove stains, but often they don't work as well as you'd hope...Well, if you're looking for a cleaning solution that could get rid of any stain, then look no further than this must-try $5.80 Miracle Cream Cleaner!

17. Coles gave away a free $99 Vittoria coffee machine to customers as part of its Mother's Day promotion. Were you the lucky one?

18. Several supermarket meat products that were supposedly safe for consumption were recalled in multiple stores in both NSW and Victoria. Food Standards Australia issued an urgent recall for a brand of salami sold in the two states, over fears it may be contaminated with Salmonella.

19. The good folks at Coles and Woolworths know how costly Christmas can be! To reduce the cost of your Christmas stocking stuffers and make the festive period brighter, they ran a mega flash sale with half-price discounts across a range of items.

20. Thanks to a new 'cult' $1.99 ALDI ingredient, a quick and easy meal idea made its way to dinner tables across Australia. ALDI fans, and even casual shoppers, were all raving about stir-fry made with the supermarket's newest sauce.

21. Many of us were sad to hear the news that Tracy Grimshaw would be leaving A Current Affair after hosting the show for an impressive 17 years. Grimshaw made the announcement on the show in September, citing exhaustion as her reason for stepping down as its main host. Who will replace her? Kyle Sandilands let the cat out of the bag.

The "free" Vittoria coffee machine was not free. You had to buy quite a number of packets of pods - in my case almost equalling the cost of the machine ($59.90). Since then I purchased another 502 pods (to see me out). But then I struck trouble with the machine - the pods could not be easily inserted and when pushed they fell through. This meant that you had to retrieve them. When questioning the suppliers they claimed at first that the pods I bought from them were not suitable for their machine - HUH ???? A case of rather poor service. At least the coffee is quite nice
