I HATE hearing about these places because they will NEVER be in Tasmania. We are stuck with the 2 big rip offs and IGA which is pretty expensive as well but I forgive them because they are family owned, and fighting to stay alive against the 2 greedy ones.

IGA is the biggest ripoff by a country mile. A few weeks ago, they advertised Birds Eye crumbed fish for half price. At the checkout, they tried to charge the full price until I showed them the catalogue and only then did they reluctantly charge the correct price.

She said, 'Our customers are extremely price-sensitive, so 100 per cent we need to compete with other retailers. We're finding that customers tend to come to us first before going elsewhere. We don't use any high-low strategies where products go on special—everything at Ten Tops is constantly at a low price.’

'We work tirelessly to ensure the customer is getting the very best price.' she added.

Danielle, an employee at the Penrith store, also mentioned that the family-owned business always prioritises the customer.

'People are struggling to afford certain products because of the cost of living at the moment, so we try to make the price as cheap as we can to those who need that extra help. We want to make it easier for people to access and afford what they need. Some items we sell for $10 cost double the price at other supermarkets.' she shared.

Taking the big supermarkets head-on, the Bernardi family, three generations strong and with over 50 years of retail experience, embarked on a new journey with Ten Tops 25 years after launching Discount Daves, their first supermarket venture.

Do you think if the whole 500,000 of us shouted out "WE WANT some competitors for Coles and Woolies" they might come across??

I HATE hearing about these places because they will NEVER be in Tasmania. We are stuck with the 2 big rip offs and IGA which is pretty expensive as well but I forgive them because they are family owned, and fighting to stay alive against the 2 greedy ones.
