Ten Tops: The Supermarket Where Everything's Under $10!

There's a unique charm about browsing the aisles of your local supermarket. The scent of freshly baked bread, the bustle of other shoppers, and the promises hidden within the discount racks.

But amidst the rising cost of living, an Australian supermarket has challenged market norms and set a new benchmark for budget-friendly grocery shopping.

Its name? Ten Tops! A store where everything is under $10!

A family-run establishment, Ten Tops is a saviour for Aussies battling the cost of living crisis.

A haven for modern-day bargain hunters, this supermarket boasts a promise that will surely make your eyes twinkle—nothing on their shelves will cost you over $10.

And believe us, compared to leading supermarkets, the prices of similar items can make your jaw drop.

The Ten Tops family is growing steadily.

Currently, there are eight branches scattered across New South Wales, including Armidale, Dubbo, Nowra, Penrith, Richmond, Tamworth, Wagga Wagga and Young, with another store in Fyshwick, ACT.

The aisles of Ten Tops are loaded with necessities like toilet paper, frozen food, snacks, dishwashing tablets, pet food, and much more.

The savings are exceptional, with 12-packs of Quilton toilet paper available for $7.50, 750ml bottles of non-alcoholic Natureo Shiraz wine for just $1 each, and Heinz products for $1.50 per can.

To make it clearer, let's make a swift price comparison.

The Finish Ultimate Pro 0% Dishwasher Tablets 48 Pack that costs a whopping $54 at Woolworths can be spotted at Ten Tops for a mere $10!

Cadbury Favourites, retailing for $16 at Woolworths, are available at just $5.

And the Quilton Toilet Tissue Paper, which costs $8.50 at Coles, can be brought home from Ten Tops at only $7.50.

Now, if you're sitting there thinking, 'This seems too good to be true', wipe that scepticism away because everything at Ten Tops is as budget-friendly as it gets.

Isabella Bernardi, who works in the head office, shared that the brand is aware of the market and finds it extremely tough to compete with big-name supermarkets.

She said, 'Our customers are extremely price-sensitive, so 100 per cent we need to compete with other retailers. We're finding that customers tend to come to us first before going elsewhere. We don't use any high-low strategies where products go on special—everything at Ten Tops is constantly at a low price.’

'We work tirelessly to ensure the customer is getting the very best price.' she added.

Danielle, an employee at the Penrith store, also mentioned that the family-owned business always prioritises the customer.

'People are struggling to afford certain products because of the cost of living at the moment, so we try to make the price as cheap as we can to those who need that extra help. We want to make it easier for people to access and afford what they need. Some items we sell for $10 cost double the price at other supermarkets.' she shared.

Taking the big supermarkets head-on, the Bernardi family, three generations strong and with over 50 years of retail experience, embarked on a new journey with Ten Tops 25 years after launching Discount Daves, their first supermarket venture.

This family truly comprehends the value of offering something exceptional in an overcrowded market.

While the focus at Ten Tops is primarily non-perishable items, they are also upping their game with an impressive array of household brands like Ajax and Pine O Cleen.

However, they haven't ventured into fresh produce yet—something to keep in mind while planning your shopping spree.

Imagine the excitement of filling your pantry with top-notch branded items without draining your wallet!

To make this experience even more enjoyable, here are some practical tips for savvy shopping:
  1. Prioritise non-perishable items at Ten Tops.
  2. Get fresh produce from local markets or chain stores offering good quality.
  3. Always keep an eye out for discounts and deals.
  4. Set alerts on your computer or phone to stay updated with sales.

I HATE hearing about these places because they will NEVER be in Tasmania. We are stuck with the 2 big rip offs and IGA which is pretty expensive as well but I forgive them because they are family owned, and fighting to stay alive against the 2 greedy ones.
IGA is the biggest ripoff by a country mile. A few weeks ago, they advertised Birds Eye crumbed fish for half price. At the checkout, they tried to charge the full price until I showed them the catalogue and only then did they reluctantly charge the correct price.

I also regularly buy Strawberry Quik as a wicked pleasure. It's $3.50 at Coles and Woolies. IGA charge a whopping $4.30!

Would welcome them in Wollongong, we have prime sites available in a fast-growing district. This would be a roaring success here.

Will only be impressed when they open one in Brisbane, N.S.W. ones are of no use to me.

Do you think if the whole 500,000 of us shouted out "WE WANT some competitors for Coles and Woolies" they might come across??
I HATE hearing about these places because they will NEVER be in Tasmania. We are stuck with the 2 big rip offs and IGA which is pretty expensive as well but I forgive them because they are family owned, and fighting to stay alive against the 2 greedy ones.
