Seniors Card

Eligibility:
You can apply for a Tasmania Seniors Card if:

• You're aged 60 years or over
• You're a permanent resident of Tasmania
• You’re not working more than 20 hours per week in paid employment

How to apply​

Take three pieces of identification (one showing proof of your Tasmanian address and one your date of birth) to Service Tasmania.

Transport deals​

The National Seniors Transport Scheme provides Seniors Card holders with concessions on public transport throughout Australia.

Tasmanian Seniors Card holders enjoy significant discounts and benefits on transport and travel including:

• Concession prices when using the Metro and Merseylink public transport services.
• Concession rate travel on metropolitan public transport in all states and territories.

If you are travelling to New South Wales, you will need to apply for an Opal Card before arriving.

When can I apply?
You can apply on or after your 60th birthday.

There is no cost when applying for this card.

What is the Seniors Card programme?
The Tasmanian Seniors Card is a lifestyle card that enables holders to receive discounts from over 640 businesses and government services ranging from transport, electrical, and health care to accommodation, building supplies, clothing, dining, and much more.

The Seniors Card is represented by a logo that is unique to the Seniors Card Program and used by all States and Territories.

Where can I find out about available discounts?
Hundreds of businesses have signed up to offer discounts. Click here to see what you can save and where.

A printed directory is available from Services Tasmania Service Centre, Libraries Tasmania, Tasmanian Visitor Information Centres, and some local MP’s offices.

Also, look out for the 'Seniors Card Welcome Here' logo or ask for Seniors Card discounts when you're out and about.

How do I update my personal details?
You can easily update your contact details for Tasmanian Government services by using the Service Tasmania Client Update Service (CUS) online form available from: https://www.concessions.tas.gov.au/concessions_cards/tasmanian_seniors_card

By using this form you give your consent that your personal information can be forwarded to the Government services you are registered with, including the Seniors Card Program – don’t forget to update your email address as well.

If you don’t have the internet at home, please phone 1300 13 55 13 or visit your nearest Service Tasmania service centre.

If you require a replacement card due to a name change, please visit Service Tasmania with proof of your new name.

What should I do if I have lost my Seniors Card?
Your Seniors Card does not expire and you do not need to renew or replace it unless it is damaged, lost, or stolen.

To replace your Card free of charge:

• phone 1300 13 55 13
• visit any Service Tasmania service centre.

Can I use my card interstate or overseas?
Each Australian state and territory has its own Seniors Card scheme, but some reciprocal arrangements are in place. Double-check with the business that they offer a discount for Tasmania Seniors Card holders before making a purchase.

Holders of the Tasmania Seniors Card have access to discounts and special offers on goods and services from some businesses involved in the New Zealand SuperGold Program. (This does not include transport concessions).

Look for the 'SuperGold Cards Welcome' stickers when travelling in New Zealand, and ask if they also accept the Qld Seniors Card or Senior Savers Card.

If a business does not offer discounts for Australian seniors, this will be noted on their website under 'exclusions'.

I am visiting from interstate or overseas. Can I use my card in Tasmania?
Use the online discount directory to find the business discounts currently available, but note that not all businesses extend their offers to interstate and overseas cards so ask before purchasing if they accept your card.
