Shocking video of Macca's in Melbourne shows how DIRTY the store is: "How can they eat with that mess?"

A video that was taken inside a McDonald's restaurant in Melbourne, has gone viral for all the wrong reasons.

As the footage uploaded to TikTok shows, the restaurant appears to be covered in garbage, with food wrappers, half-eaten burgers, scattered fries and discarded drinks strewn everywhere – including on the tables, the floor, and even the seats.

The particular Maccas branch, which was assumed to be the one on Elizabeth Street, was described to be "disgusting" and "unsanitary" by people on social media.

"That is absolutely disgusting; how can they eat with that mess? I mean at this point they might as well eat in a dumpster bin," said one person in the comments section.

In fact, many of the commenters were baffled as to how the other diners could manage to sit and eat despite the mountains of mess around them.

"How are they just casually eating there…" a second user asked. Another agreed and added, "Everyone is sitting around as if nothing is wrong... Is that normal for you all?"

Some people also said that they found it confusing that the customers didn't place their garbage in the provided bins, to which the TikTok user who shared the clip replied that the "bins were overfilled."

Someone who claimed to be a former fast-food employee mentioned that in situations such as these, one realises just how "grotty" people truly are, saying: "They just leave their rubbish everywhere even though there’s a bin right next to them."

On the other hand, there were some commenters who attempted to offer an explanation as to why the restaurant would be that messy.

"The manager probably tolerates it for the amount of business they’re getting," one person suggested. Another agreed that it's a "management issue", saying: "If it’s after midnight, the employees might be told to just leave it as it’s a health and safety issue."

One user even said that this particular Maccas location has always been "like that" and this type of condition is quite "normal". Since it's a CBD Macca's close to all the clubs, if the footage was filmed on a Friday or Saturday, it would sadly be expected.

Yes, it may be unfair to hold a typical fast-food chain to the same "high" standards as your favourite fine dining restaurant, but we think you should still be able to expect a certain level of cleanliness, consistency, and customer service from them.

What are your thoughts, folks? Have you ever seen a fast-food establishment that was as filthy and disorderly as this one? Leave a comment below with your thoughts and experiences to share with the rest of us.

Sadly, this part of old Melbourne Town attracts MANY homeless folk, who use this MCDONALD'S as a safe haven from the elements.
The Staff often give hungry people a hot bite to eat.
Rubbish is often discarded around the bins if they are full, but it's mostly younger folk who leave their rubbish lying around, not the homeless people.
It's a scary place to be.....

You would expect such a well-known franchise as this to allow this happen, all it needs is a person to clear up these messes even if it is the manager?

I love the comment down the bottom saying they’d have to be fired before they’d clean up the mess. What do employees expect to have to do if they’re working in a fast food restaurant? As to the cleaning after midnight being a health and safety issue, why? What’s different after midnight? I seriously don’t understand why some young people think cleaning is beneath them. The mind boggles as to what their homes must look like.

Hungry Jack's for me

Absolutely disgusting. I wouldn't even go inside let alone eat there. I can't understand ANYBODY sitting and eating in amongst all that rubbish. If the outlet was near to where I lived I would report it to the Health Department.
