REVEALED: Nationwide search reveals Australia’s best meat pie

Western Australia's Pinjarra Bakery nabbed the crown for the Best Plain Meat Pie in the recent Official Great Aussie Pie Competition.
The bakery won over last year's winner Rolling Pin Pies and Cakes in Ocean Grove, Victoria, which has won six gold medals, eight silver medals, and the overall trophy for the best pie in Australia last year at the Baking Association of Australia's national Best Pie Competition.

Pinjarra Bakery, which is now dubbed as the baker of 'Australia's Best Plain Meat Pie', has four locations across WA and is owned by the Pantaleo family, who were reportedly 'stoked' for their much-loved 'chunky pie'.
According to the judging platform, the best pies are expected to have a pastry top with “good lamination” that isn’t too thick or too thin, the filling must have no gristle (cartilage) or bone, and the pie must have perfectly balanced meat to pastry ratio.

The Official Great Aussie Pie Competition had 18 different categories for this year's competition, which included Best Gourmet Pie, Best Gourmet Sausage Roll, Best Plain Sausage Roll, Best Vegetarian Pie and Best Apple Pie.
