It's funny how just going through my old Cookbooks and looking at my grandmother's recipes brings back so many wonderful memories

Always at school stalls and fetes. Thanks for sharing. x

I used to make them when my kids were young and they all loved them, (so did I)! I’d forgotten about them, thank you for reminding me. Must make some for my grandkids. 😋

Boy.....haven't had these since Cocky was an egg....all the go at School fetes and even kids lunchboxes. 😂😋

Thanks for the recipe Suzanne - i still buy them from a small bakery in Bentley, w.a. but homemade, u can't beat,
or country womens stalls make the best - thankyou:_)

I often make rock cakes. I’m the throw a bit of this, a bit of that in type, this is how my mum taught me to cook cakes and biscuits. The last batch I cooked I took some to work for my team mates, they all loved them. A lot had never tasted them.

I normally buy them from Coles but now having a home made recipe, that will be a thing of the past !
Thank you Suzanne :)

I have only tried baking scones years ago from a Betty Crocker packet mix. They ended up like rock cakes with emphasis on the granite. Lucky I did'nt break my teeth on them. As a result, I've never tried baking again.

I had never been able to make a scone that wasn't a rock cake until...I used Paul Hollywood's recipe just recently and they were sensational - Traditional Scones.

From memory, Mum made these regularly but I felt the essential ingredient was cinnamon. It imparts that unique flavour that I loved.

I put choc and walnuts and curry powder in mine. Such a waste of ingredients.😢
curry powder?? I know, it is so disappointing when expensive ingredients are wasted.

Sorry it wasn’t curry powder it was turmeric powder I put curry powder in my carrot and potato cake I make. But I use rice flour which is expensive to buy for a 375g bag.thatll teach me.🤣
Lay off the saffron. It's worth more than gold! Same as rice bran oil. Used be sooo cheap but not now!

I also remembered my grandmother sometimes sprinkled sugar in top
