Always check the sender's e-mail address.

I think that in this case the sender's e-mail address of @davedoesporn might be a hint that it's not genuine.... 😅

I've received much more convincing scam myGov e-mails and I immediately check the sender's e-mail address, then go to myGov....via the Internet, NOT via the e-mail...and see if there is actually a genuine message for me. More often than not, there isn't a message, which proves that the e-mail is not genuine.
MyGov don't actually send you emails concerning anything in detail. Any email from them would only say that you have go a secure message and that you should log into MyGov and read it. They never give you a link to follow.

Absolutely 100% agree it's not hard to do, I keep telling a friend that...but she isn't very tech minded so I have to show her...I was getting emails from telstra for a recurring payment not being paid...I haven't been with them for 4 yrs🤣🤣🤣it goes into the block and delete..

I just got this one, will they ever learn that the majority of us ignore them..
Centrelink was a typo 😂

I haven't got this one. This must be a new one floating around. You know straight off that is a scam. (Dear Respected Member,) no government would say that.

The only messages from MyGov is when I get a text to say I've got a message from that department as that is the only way they will contact anyone or actual paper mail.

I have had some fake ones recently.

I get e-mails from banks etc. that I don't use!

It's quite simple; if it's genuine, the notification will direct you to log into your myGov inbox and see your message/letter/task there. All other things are scams, so Block & Report, Delete

My Gov don't send emails any message for you is in your MYGOV account
And speaking of My Gov, well Centrelink actually, I logged into my account through My Gov yesterday and found a message saying they had cancelled my rent relief, a whole $211 a fortnight, we have just moved and our rent had gone up by $230 a week. I was straight on the phone to them and after 45 minutes on hold with that shocking music the lady couldn't have been more helpful and she fixed it up on the spot.
That was a big chunk of change to lose in one go.
It's no wonder people get pissed with them while on the phone though, that music would send the most placid person into a rage 😂

It is very distressing for us older ones to be waiting on the phone for a real person to talk too, press the wrong button at the wrong time, presto you have too start all over again...
