Movies and TV series recommendation

Hey there, members!

After an insistent public demand, I've decided to create this Movies and TV series recommendation thread. I know that a lot of you have some fantastic movies and TV shows to recommend, and I'm excited to see what you all have in store.

I'm particularly fond of psychological thrillers, dark comedies, and drama, but I don't snub a rom-com when I need a feel-good film to chill with my partner.

To give you a better idea of my taste, some of my all-time favourites include The Pianist, Shawshank Redemption, Triangle of Sadness, Inglourious Basterds, Get Out, and Inception. For TV series, my favourites are Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, and Sherlock.

Now, I'd love to hear from you all - what are your current favourites, and what have you been watching recently that you would recommend?

Let's get this thread going - share your thoughts and recommendations below!

I'm watching Summer of Rockets on Stan. Other good ones on Stan if you like crime (note all subtitles) are Snow Angels, arctic Circle, Lakeside Murders, but English ones were One of Us and Safe House. I also watched Where the Crawdads Sing on Binge. Ex Ellen, so was the book.

Happy Valley definitely worth watching. Can be a bit gruesome in parts but very well acted and you never know what is going to happen. Loved all three seasons. C.B.Strike on Binge also a great detective show.

Loved Happy Valley! We also rewatched from the beginning prior to the last series. Currently enjoying last series of Endeavour.

I have recently binged all (as of now) episodes of Outlander and am pleased to say they have kept pretty much to the books. Can't wait for the next season to drop.
Other than that I mainly watch British crime dramas, Vera, Death in Paradise, Morse, Endeavour etc. I also enjoy Taskmaster, both UK and Aus versions and Call the Midwife and The Larkins are some good quality, easy viewing. :)

I have just finished Grace & Frankie, a
hilarious show about two seventy something women whose husbands announce to them that they are gay and in love and leaving them. It’s starring Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlinson and I highly recommend it!!!

Currently binge watching THE RANCH on Netflix as I'm stuck at home with a broken wrist and am unable to do much of anything :(

OMG! These are all great recommendations. I'm definitely adding some of these to my watchlist. But Outlander and Grace & Frankie caught my eye! I'm also particularly curious about Where the Crawdads Sing. Just watched the trailer and it looks eerie and thrilling- just what I'm looking for. :D But it got a 34% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Do you guys check the ratings first before you watch a show? Because I do. My passing rate is 70% for drama/ thriller movies, and 50% for rom coms :p

We subscribed to Paramount+ recently to watch the Yellowstone spin offs, 1883 & 1923. Wasn’t overly impressed with 1883 & haven’t watched 1923 yet as we’re waiting for all episodes to drop. In the meantime we’re rewatching Dexter before we watch the latest series Dexter New Blood.
Btw, loved Happy Valley as it was filmed in West Yorkshire where I grew up so looking forward to Season 3!
