I do agree that the cost of printing out the card with the 40th anniversary on will cost but they are only doing that for cards that are due to be renewed or replaced for whatever reason, I guess the only difference to the card is a little logo. If they were going to give everyone new cards regardless of if they need them then yes that would be a total waste of money which could be used elsewhere. Other milestones are celebrated so why not Medicare.

As the plate would need to be changed for new expiry date etc, It would make absolutely no sense at all to deduce that adding another piece of text would make any difference to the cost of what has to occur when a new card is issued at expiry or loss of card. Somebody make some sense please!

I repeat,there would be no charges to add to the card.My dad was a printer and started working in 1934 till he retired at 65:in the mid eighties and saw and worked on every kind of printing press known to man during that time.Now it's even easier to change the template.Can we just move on as nobody seems to be coming up with any actual facts re costs.You are all speculating.
