Macca's to launch NEW coffee exclusively for Aussies!

There's no denying that Aussies love their coffee. And it's not just any coffee – we are fussy about our brews, with most of us saying we only drink a freshly brewed cuppa.

That is probably why Aussies are big fans of Macca's coffees as well. Not only are they affordable and freshly brewed every single day, but they are also consistently good, which is something that can't be said for all fast-food restaurants.

Tapping into our love of coffee, McDonald’s has announced its launching a new menu item exclusively for Australians – and some of us will be able to try it for free!

The fast-food giant recently announced the development of a new beverage designed specifically for Aussie coffee enthusiasts. The new drink, dubbed the "Australiano," combines the flavours of native wattleseed and chai with McCafe's locally-roasted coffee beans.

It was purposefully designed to compete with the classic Americano, with McDonald's Australia telling media outlets that the drink had been in the works for more than a year.

Would you be willing to give it a shot? (Pardon the pun, we had too).

"The goal here for us is to create a coffee flavour that Aussies can call their own," said Lancy Huynh, McDonald's Australia's group brand manager, adding that they are excited to hear what their customers think of this unique blend of flavours.

The Australiano, which will be available for $4.75 (please note, pricing may vary) for a limited time beginning May 25 at McCafé locations across the country. It has been described by Macca's as a "treat for coffee aficionados" and can be served hot or iced.

According to Lancey, the company's expert baristas searched no further than their own backyard for an iconic Australian ingredient – native wattleseed.

"Wattleseed was chosen for its flavour profile, which compliments McCafé's locally roasted coffee beans," she explained, adding that she hopes the new brew will be a coffee that Australians "can proudly put their name to."

McCafé, which began in Melbourne's laneways in 1993, now serves more than 300 million cups of barista-made coffee and hot drinks each year.

In fact, McCafé sells one-quarter of all coffee sold in Australia every single day.

The Australiano will be available for a limited time only in all McCafé restaurants across the country, as well as through the MyMacca's App and McDelivery, beginning Wednesday, May 25.

Coffee lovers will be able to sample the Australiano for free when McCafé celebrates the milestone with a 2,000-kilometre road trip from Melbourne up the Eastern Seaboard to the Sunshine State later this month.

The coffee will be distributed at eight stops along the route, two in Victoria, two in New South Wales, and three in Queensland. More information about this trip is provided below.

What about Adelaide?? Why don't we get to try it for free?

I live in Melbourne, yet the 2 sites listed as supplying the free coffee are miles away from me, so I'm in the right state, but too far away.
Cheaper to actually buy one from a McCafe Restaurant.

That’s great that Maccas is launching an Aussie style coffee. Even better for those who live in Melbourne. In case your wondering I’m being cynical. What about those of us who do not live in Melbourne. i live in Bendigo and it doesn’t matter how good this coffee is, I won’t be travelling to Melbourne for a coffee.

Disappointing McDonald's is only allowing the Wattleseed coffee at just two outlets in all of Victoria!
In Winter, St Kilda is NOT a place to go. It's freezing, windy, and dead as a door-nail!
WHY has Macca's failed to make this new Wattleseed coffee trial available in all the CBD outlets for a much wider, more diversified range of customers to taste this new Wattleseed coffee?
Wattleseed is an Indigenous Australian food. Millions of Australian WANT more Indigenous foods, spices and flavours made available to us, but they are extremely hard to get hold of, and expensive when found.
Available for a short time, then what? Never to be seen again, or before being available to all Victorian Macca's?
Macca's CBD is the best place to "trial", guarantee-ing a large diversified consumer group in a very short space of time. It would also bring ppl back into town which is viral right now.

McDonald's Australia lost the plot years ago when it's colours changed from happy, bright, and fun to the now ugly, depressing, brooding brown colour scheme. They all look so MISERABLE, as opposed to the once inviting pleasant exterior.

And .... why is the Fillet-o-Fish so expensive? It doesn't even hv lettuce, pickles, or salad in it!

The 8 sites listed apply to the free sampling locations.
The coffee available for purchase is at all McCafe
restaurants across the country for a limited time only.
