In a world-first, Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) Australia is preparing to launch an all-new dining experience that may surprise some fans of the fast-food chain.
From April 1 to April 3, the restaurant will be opening a degustation menu in Sydney, complete with a wine pairing and an 11-course menu inspired by the recipes from the Colonel himself.

In partnership with Nelly Robinson, the owner of Sydney restaurant ‘nel.’ and also known as the country’s degustation king, KFC is bringing an entirely different culinary journey to fans and foodies alike.
The eleven-course menu will feature popular items and ingredients from the restaurant, and is said to be an expansion of the authentic KFC finger-lickin’ experience. Meaning, customers are encouraged to ditch the “fancy” and “uptight” fine dining etiquettes.

One of the dishes featured is a potato bun, coupled with a melting gravy candle. Diners are supposed to use their hands to “dip” the dish onto the gravy to savour the experience.
There is also the Tongue Twister, which invites diners to “lick the Colonel” on their plates so that they can relish the flavours of mixed spices.

But don’t worry, because there are also “normal” dishes on the menu, such as the Supercharged Wings, which are cooked over a bed of charcoal, a Twister Sister that takes the original and adds a dash of glitz with pearly barley risotto and sundried tomatoes, and the Popcorn Chicken, which is served with a celeriac soup, mushroom gnocchi, and basil.
And of course, the menu wouldn’t be complete without the Colonel’s signature fried chicken – the ‘La Di Da Drumstick’, which is an iconic Original Recipe drumstick dusted with quinoa and gold. A fried chicken drumstick fit for a king.

Kristi Woolrych, the CMO of KFC Australia, said the company’s thrilled to reinvent the idea of “fine dining” by bringing some fun to the table.
“Our fans will experience KFC in ways they could never have imagined as they are taken on a world-first culinary journey that looks and tastes uniquely KFC,” she said.
“We’ve pulled out all the stops to make it a magical moment and one that our guests will never forget.”
Nelly Robinson, the renowned chef behind ‘nel.’ and a lifelong fan of the fast-food chain, also said that it’s a “dream come true” to collaborate with KFC for this dining experience.
“For the menu, I’ve taken 11 KFC dishes and reimagined how the flavours and textures come to life using my expertise in degustation menus to truly blow fans away,” he said.
“So, we can’t wait to see their reactions to each of the devilishly good dishes.”
Degustation sessions will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm on Friday April 1, at a secret venue in Sydney’s Alexandria.
The event will cost $75 per head, complete with decadence and fine wines.
KFC is also donating 100 per cent of the event profits to its charity partners: The Black Dog Institute, ReachOut Australia and Whitelion.
