Is your car on this list? Urgent recall alert for Toyota, Land Rover, Jeep, Genesis, Ford Ranger and Everest owners!

Attention all car enthusiasts and daily drivers, there's an important safety alert that we at the Seniors Discount Club want to bring to your attention. It might not be the most exciting update, but it's one that could potentially keep you and your loved ones out of harm's way.

There’s no dancing around it: car recalls can be a real pain. Paying for a vehicle, only to be told that it may have a seriously dangerous defect, certainly takes some of the shine away from owning a new set of wheels.

But jokes aside, they're incredibly important to take seriously—for the safety of you and other road users.

In recent news, a surge of recall notices has affected popular car models from reputable manufacturers like Toyota, Land Rover, Jeep, Genesis, and Ford. Without further ado, here's a detailed roundup of which of these models have received an urgent recall notice!

2020-23 Toyota Yaris hatch

There are 7633 affected units, including the Ascent Sport, SX, ZR petrol, and hybrid. The issue seemingly involves a manufacturing defect resulting in small cracks in the lower suspension arms, which may cause the suspension to collapse or detach from the vehicle when driving on rough roads.

Toyota agreed to contact affected owners in writing, requesting them to make an appointment at their preferred Toyota dealer to inspect and, if necessary, replace the front lower suspension arm—thankfully free of charge.

Toyota provides a dedicated Recall Assist Support Line at 1800 987 366 for those seeking further information, available from Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm AEST. If you're looking to locate a nearby dealer, visit their website at https://www.toyota.com.au/find-a-dealer.

2016-20 Land Rover Discovery

A total of 4,084 units across all variants of this model are facing potential risks due to a defect that could lead to water seeping into the rear passenger door latches and causing corrosion. The doors might unexpectedly come undone while the vehicle is in motion.

The owners of the affected units will be promptly notified and provided with clear instructions. They are advised to take their vehicles to an authorised dealership for a thorough and complimentary inspection. If any problems are found, the dealership will carry out the necessary rectification at no cost to the owners.

If you are an owner or operator affected by this situation, we kindly request that you reach out to Land Rover Customer Relations at 1800 625 642. They will be able to provide you with further information and assistance.

2021-23 Jeep Grand Cherokee

A total of 2052 units of both the Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L variants have been impacted. Due to a manufacturing defect, there is a possibility of the rear coil springs detaching while driving, which could result in a loss of control over the vehicle.

Jeep wants to assure the owners of these affected vehicles that they can have their rear coil springs inspected and, if needed, replaced at no cost.

If you are an owner or operator seeking additional information, please don't hesitate to contact Stellantis Australia at 1800 075 397 or reach out to them via email at [email protected]. They will be able to provide you with further guidance and assistance regarding this matter.

2019-23 Genesis G80, GV60, GV70, and GV80

A total of 1,723 units across all variants have been affected by this issue. The problem seems to stem from a manufacturing mishap, specifically with the seat belt pre-tensioner inflator cap. In the event of an accident, this cap may fracture, posing a potential danger to vehicle occupants as it could release flying metal fragments.

Genesis, the manufacturer, has taken responsibility for the situation and will be reaching out to owners to provide a free inspection and repair service.

For further information, owners or operators can contact the GMA Customer Care Team at 1800 908 070.

2021-22 Ford Ranger and Everest with ARB winch

Approximately 110 units are impacted by this issue (dealer-fitted), specifically those equipped with an ARB/WARN VR EVO winch. The problem stems from corrosion on the internal circuit board of the winch's remote control, which can lead to unexpected behaviour such as the cable stopping, winding, or releasing on its own.

To ensure safety, owners of these vehicles are advised to cease using the remote control immediately. Ford will write to the affected owners, instructing them to schedule an appointment at their preferred Ford Authorised Dealership. The replacement of the remote control will be provided free of charge.

Alternatively, affected individuals can directly contact ARB by visiting their website at https://www.arb.com.au/warn-winch-recall/.

For additional information, please get in touch with any authorised Ford Dealer or reach out to Ford's Customer Relationship Centre at 133 673.

Why is there so much of this happening? Is the workforce so under trained or are we relying too heavily on robot workforce? This needs to be improved before a tragedy happens and we need these big companies to take things seriously.

Since we "baby boomers" are being blamed for everything from high house prices to student debt ... would it be appropriate for us to point out that Australia had a "booming" vehicle manufacturing industry and that no HQ Holden nor Ford Falcon was ever recalled? Ah, to hell with it ... When has a "Baby Boomer" ever worried about "appropriate"!

A quick calculation shows there are over 15,500 vehicles involved in this recall. Though not all may be effected this is still a staggering figure. Glad l couldn't afford any of those costly vehicles. I'll stick to my 16 year old Toyota which l have been told is in good condition for its age. Two drawbacks though; no electric windows or reversing camera. Guess l have to forego some pleasures when driving, eh?

ISN'T IT BETTER THAN NOT BEING TOLD THAT YOUR CAR MAY HAVE A PROBLEM, REMEMBER BACK IN THE 60S+ THAT CARS ONLY HAD 6 MONTHS WARRANTY & 12 MONTHS IF YOU WERE LUCKY.. THE PARTS THAT WERE FAULTY WERE USUALLY MADE BY ANOTHER MANUFACTURER .. MANY OF THESE RECALLS ARE JUST CHECKING THAT A COMPONENT WAS INSTALLED PROPERLY. Now remember that most car parts are assembled by ROBOTS not people who can see a crack or something faulty.. also most cars are now made in countries that ENGLISH is Not the First language... so, that can also add to the problem ??? maybe not.. I saw a part in the engine bay of a new FORD twincab ute with a made in Romania label.. At least all these parts have been examined after the cars have been built and found to be faulty, and maybe only a fraction of these parts maybe faulty.. BUT all of them MUST be inspected.. BUGBUYER.
