There are 7633 affected units, including the Ascent Sport, SX, ZR petrol, and hybrid. The issue seemingly involves a manufacturing defect resulting in small cracks in the lower suspension arms, which may cause the suspension to collapse or detach from the vehicle when driving on rough roads.

Since we "baby boomers" are being blamed for everything from high house prices to student debt ... would it be appropriate for us to point out that Australia had a "booming" vehicle manufacturing industry and that no HQ Holden nor Ford Falcon was ever recalled? Ah, to hell with it ... When has a "Baby Boomer" ever worried about "appropriate"!
 
A quick calculation shows there are over 15,500 vehicles involved in this recall. Though not all may be effected this is still a staggering figure. Glad l couldn't afford any of those costly vehicles. I'll stick to my 16 year old Toyota which l have been told is in good condition for its age. Two drawbacks though; no electric windows or reversing camera. Guess l have to forego some pleasures when driving, eh?

ISN'T IT BETTER THAN NOT BEING TOLD THAT YOUR CAR MAY HAVE A PROBLEM, REMEMBER BACK IN THE 60S+ THAT CARS ONLY HAD 6 MONTHS WARRANTY & 12 MONTHS IF YOU WERE LUCKY.. THE PARTS THAT WERE FAULTY WERE USUALLY MADE BY ANOTHER MANUFACTURER .. MANY OF THESE RECALLS ARE JUST CHECKING THAT A COMPONENT WAS INSTALLED PROPERLY. Now remember that most car parts are assembled by ROBOTS not people who can see a crack or something faulty.. also most cars are now made in countries that ENGLISH is Not the First language... so, that can also add to the problem ??? maybe not.. I saw a part in the engine bay of a new FORD twincab ute with a made in Romania label.. At least all these parts have been examined after the cars have been built and found to be faulty, and maybe only a fraction of these parts maybe faulty.. BUT all of them MUST be inspected.. BUGBUYER.
