It is hard for me pick one favourite meal. Although I have lived in Australia for over 36 years I have lived and worked or studied in many different countries so my choice would be eclectic. I love Chinese food, as well as Asian food, such spicy curry. I loved some of the African food too. But I also love steak or salmon with its accompaniments. I celebrate all types of food.

I'm on fb 'Growing up in Alice' and there was a remark about a Restaurant there back in the 60's - Luigi's - it brought back the wonderful Scallopini he offered - I've never tasted one like it since - I no longer order it as they just don't come up to the standard Luigi had (he was in Darwin before they moved to Alice so someone else might remember!)

An Italian meal as well. Not just the gorgeous food but the ambience of the stunning venue. It's at least 10 years ago but i still remember the antipasto platter we had to share. Yums

My favourite meal is a Lebanese dish called Risonucknei. It’s ingredients are lamb, celery, onion and lemon juice. It also has rice and vermicilli in it. My mother used to make it and I am so glad I got the recipe and method from her before she passed away. I could eat it every day if I had too.

My favourite meal was a chicken chow mein that I cooked in a home economics class, 48 years ago. I've tried to replicate it, but it's not the same.

We used to go to a local cafe once a fortnight for breakfast, and the owner made the most amazing mushroom, feta and spinach omelette. Really miss those now the cafe has closed down.

Crumbed lamb cutlets, followed by Pavlova.

Steak and kidney pudding in a suety pastry, served with boiled brussel sprouts, boiled potatoes, boiled carrots and a hot beef gravy. The art of such culinary delights seems to have faded.

I buy the Fray Bentos steak and kidney puddings in from the UK. Not quite up to the ones I had as a kid but a pretty good substitute.

I love Lamb's Fry and Bacon in an Onion Gravy. And for a dessert - Bread and Butter Pudding.

Yes, I have tried the product you refer to. It is a pie rather than a pudding and is encased in a short pastry base with flaked pastry topping rather than suety pastry . Quite nice, but not the ideal which can be obtained by home cooking.

No, definitely a pudding with suet pastry in the accepted mixing bowl shape. I get them from "The British Corner shop" sent out from the UK. I also get the pies with the flaky pastry, they have many more fillings available than the ordinary steak and kidney. Well worth a look.

Thanks for that. It certainly sounds more of a pudding. I will check out "The British Corner Shop" as suggested.
