Since the site was previously occupied by an Australia Post outlet and a two-storey office block, some serious clearance was needed to make room for Bunnings’ ambitious new venture.
Ahead of the project, community members also raised their concerns over the colour of the building and the prominent size of the Bunnings logo set to be displayed on the façade.

In response to the community’s voiced concerns, Bunnings has announced some major adjustments to its plans.
For starters, the size of the logo will be reduced by 33 per cent, and several ‘hammer’ emblems will be removed from the front of the store.
Additionally, the use of green paint on the external facing of the warehouse has been limited.
Next, to address traffic-related concerns, the main driveway of the Bunnings premises will be relocated to Rodborough Road once traffic signals become operational at the intersection with Allambie Road.
The goal of this measure is to minimise potential traffic congestion and improve the overall safety of both motorists and pedestrians in the area.
This new venture was first announced in 2021 after the retailer received their permit from NSW planning authorities.
Bunnings Regional Operations Manager Alan Harvey told reporters at the time that the company was pleased to receive approval for their new multi-level Bunnings Warehouse.
‘While it is too early to confirm an opening date, we look forward to providing a wide range of home and lifestyle products to the Frenchs Forest community,’ he said previously.
For the past few years, Bunnings has been expanding its services, including launching the Bunnings online store in 2019 in a bid to cater to more customers.
In February this year, it also revealed its plans to expand its product range to include pet products, such as food, toys, dog beds and kennels. This move will pit Bunnings against competition from booming pet specialty stores.
In contrast, it was reported that Woolworths spent $586 million last year to gain a 55 per cent controlling stake in the parent company of the PETstock chain, Petspiration.
It’s understood that this decision will see Bunnings and Woolworths compete over control of the pet supply market.
