I just came across this regarding Prednisone.

What is the main purpose of prednisone?

Prednisone - Uses, side effects, dosage | National Kidney ...

Steroid drugs, such as prednisone, work by lowering the activity of the immune system. The immune system is your body's defense system. Steroids work by slowing your body's response to disease or injury. Prednisone can help lower certain immune-related symptoms, including inflammation and swelling.
My son had ad asthma at 7years oldm. They put him prednisone puffer which was quit new in the 80's.He didn't grow in height for the ext two-years.His brother and both his cousins all 1 year younger went straight passed him and I still have a portrait of my two sons of which I one can tell, but the photographer' stood him on two telephone books so there wouldn't be a huge difference,to this day he never caught up!!No short Pepe in the family btw!!! I remember overhearing soccer mums saying similar things back then at the ganes.terrible stuff stay away!!!

He posted that in conversation that we were having after I told him about the long course of predispose my daughter was on
She has been a bad asthmatic since she was 1 year old , she is 18 now and still bad and is on alot of medication including preventatives
Lucky who growth was stunted .
Your son must have been on a lot of medication for along time to do this

No he wasn't on a lot or for a long time.He took it twice daily for one year only.He only ever took Ventolin by nebuliser when he flared up in a change of weather or temperatures for his asthma which was more if a constant cough than shortness of breath.I had a neighbour who's father was a retired doctor and also said that even though it was hailed as the miracle solution back then,it was already proving to be causing growth problems.Tjis was just our experience and of a lot of other people who's boys had been given this in the 1980's.However I can totally appreciate that for some people it helped greatly and did not effect them.It helped my son very very much in the time he took it,however this was HIS side effect.

That's no good to hear. My son developed it when he was 3yrs old, and needed hospital stays. This was in the 80's as well. Never heard of a prednisone puffer though. He took corticosteroid puffers by a spacer, and needed prednisone tablets when severe, due to ventolin not working enough when he had an attack.
He was monitored by a Paediatrician until he finished high school. Even to this day, he still needs corticosteroid puffers as a preventative, and ventolin if needed. Asthma is awful.
I'd say it must be individual, as he took no notice of stopping growing ... he's 6ft 3. 🤣

Also my eldest daughter has asthma and my two eldest sons who are now 41 ans 38 with many hospital stays both of these as well as my eldest daughter when admitted to hospital would have drips put in with cortisone . Both my sons are over 6ft tall.
Medication has changed to what my 18 year old has.

My 18 year old daughter is on 4 asthma medications every day and far worst than her older siblings.

My first 3 kids have asthma although my eldest son has grown out of it and my 38 year old would be better if he stopped smoking.

Asthma then skipped my next 9 children and my 18 year old is no 13 and youngest
