Elton John rushed to hospital after incident at French home

Legendary British musician Elton John was recently admitted to the Princess Grace Hospital’s Orthopaedic Centre in Monaco after a fall at his villa in Nice, France.

The 76-year-old singer’s spokesperson confirmed the fall.

‘We can confirm that following a slip yesterday at his home in the south of France, Elton visited the local hospital as a precautionary measure,’ said John’s spokesperson.

‘Following checkups, he was immediately discharged this morning and is now back at home and in good health.’

John has been staying in the French Riviera with his husband, David Furnish, and their two children since wrapping up the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in early July. Elton reached the tour’s conclusion in Sweden, thanking the audience for their continued support throughout his more than five-decade-long career.

‘I’ve had the most wonderful career, beyond belief. 52 years of pure joy playing music, how lucky am I to play music?’ the singer said to his Swedish fans.

‘But, ya know, I wouldn’t be sitting here and talking to you if it wasn’t for you. You bought the singles, the albums, the CDs, the cassettes, but more importantly, you bought the tickets to the shows and you know how I love to play live.’

‘Tonight has been magical. I’m trying to process it, and I don’t think it will sink in for a while yet that I’m finally finished touring.

‘I can’t tell you how much I’m going to miss the fans and how much their support has humbled me—it will stay with me forever.’

Elton ended the event singing Your Song and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.

Despite this tour being his last, John has not ruled out making new music entirely.

‘Touring is exhausting for me now, and it takes me away from my family and my children,’ John said in a previous interview.

Elton has still been in the spotlight lately and was even photographed dining with actor Kevin Spacey, who was recently cleared from his sexual assault trial where Elton himself took the witness stand. We wrote about Spacey’s case in more detail here.

This article serves as an important reminder for our dear members to stay careful and take precautions to prevent any falls or slips.

Below are some common causes and ways to prevent falls:

Falls in older adults are quite common and can happen for a variety of reasons. Medical conditions can alter balance and coordination, while some medications can cause dizziness or other side effects, resulting in trips and stumbles. Reduced physical activity often leads to a decrease in strength and flexibility, which can also contribute to the risk of falling. The wrong footgear, combined with poor lighting or obstacles around the home, can further increase this risk.

To prevent falls from occurring, regular exercise focused on improving balance, flexibility, and strength is paramount. Some simple but effective exercises could include yoga, water aerobics, or even regular walks. You can try this 8-move chair yoga routine to improve your mobility–but be sure to check first with your health provider if this program is safe for you!

It's also important to check the surroundings at your home, making sure it’s well-lit, clutter-free and easy to navigate. This may include installing handrails on staircases, removing loose rugs and making sure slippery surfaces are non-skid.

Medications should also be reviewed with a healthcare provider. Moreover, it's recommended to have regular check-ups and eye examinations as vision problems can drastically increase the chance of a fall. Stay safe and steady, dear members!

I'm Still Standing from early 1980s, and who can go past his Candle In The Wind tribute to Princess Diana?!

I have been a fan of Sir Elton John since I was a little girl in the 70s. My favourite Elton song is Benny and the Jets.
I had the privilege of seeing Elton when he came to Perth on his Goodbye Yellow Brick Road tour and I had been diagnosed with breast cancer and when he sung Goodbye Yellow Brick Road I cried like a baby, it seemed to be more deep and meaningful.

I enjoy listening to any of Elton’s songs and have been lucky enough to have had front row seat at one of his concerts in the Hunter valley, quite a few years ago now, courtesy of my daughter buying me the ticket. It was a fabulous show.

I’ve seen Elton John many times. The most memorable has to be A day on the green in the Yarra Valley on the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour. It was a stinking hot afternoon and into the evening Elton was hitting the half way mark of the concert when a huge wind came from nowhere then torential rain. Elton had to be escorted off the stage as it had become dangerous due to the mix of rain and electric equipment. A real downer when we all had to pack up and go home. We were lucky enough to see the whole show again, Post Covid lockdown, and it was fantastic and the weather was perfect lol. My favourite song I think is crocodile rock, you just have to sing along

Saw Elton John in concert in January this year in Melbourne at AAMI Park. It was a great day and awesome to see him in concert. Pity there's no roof on the park as it was a sweltering day but luckily we had seats 2 rows back from the front and by the time the concert started our seats were in the shade. But we really felt for the people seated in the grandstand facing west as they were exposed to the glaring sun and heat until sunset. Fantastic concert though. And favourite Elton John song. Ummmm! Too many to choose but here's a few Don't let the Sun go down me with George Michael, Daniel, Rocket Man,Candle in The Wind, and probably my favourite Can you Feel the Love tonight from the Lion King.❤️

Saw Reg Dwight at the Sydney Entertainment Centre in 1984 for his "Too Low For Zero" tour. Great night except for the two bimbos standing up in front of us for most of the show.
Yes,we had a woman doing the same thing in front of us at AAMI Park in Melbourne in January. Forgot to mention that in my earlier msg. Still a great concert but it was soooo annoying. She didn't care that she was blocking our view at times with her erratic dancing. Her partner appeared embarrassed and tried to stop her but she shrugged him off and kept going. I'm sure it happens a lot at concerts and she wasn't the only one doing it,in fact the security had to keep escorting people back to their seats when they started dancing in the aisles.🙄
