Dad transforms a cake from Woolies into an ‘insanely awesome’ Rubik’s cube cake! – “THIS IS THE BEST!”

We’ve seen a couple of mums have a go at it with cake decorating and effortlessly blow thousands away with the end result – but dads can be just as talented and capable too!
One six year old begged his dad, Adam, for a cake that looked like a Rubik’s cube for his birthday and Adam more than delivered. With some creative juices, a handful of cakes from Woolies, and a natural knack for decorating, he whipped up a Rubik’s cube themed cake like no other.

“Rubik’s cube cake for Mr 6. Three Madeira cakes from Woolworths, over-the-top icing, and Fondtastic fondant from Spotlight," he captioned his post on the Woolies/Coles Mudcake Hacks Facebook group.
His creation took the group by storm as hundreds of members flocked to the comments section to express their awe.
“THIS IS THE BEST!!!!! My boys would LOVE this!” one mum wrote.
“Omg, that's insanely awesome!” praised another.
“Shut the front door!!! Stunning.” added a third.
“Wow, that’s just clever.” commented another.
“That is super impressive!” shared one more.
Adam also added pictures of his cake decorating process so that fellow Facebook group members could see for themselves how he was able to achieve the cake’s look.

"I made a cake for both of my sons’ birthdays, so the ideas came from their requests," Adam explained.
"I made all of my youngest son’s cakes (who is now six) and all except my eldest son’s first birthday.”
"There are definitely challenges with all the cakes, but the big change was when I decided to buy the pre-made cakes, rather than bake them myself!"
He was also kind enough to offer some advice for those who want to give cake decorating a shot, saying: “YouTube is a big help, but I’ve talked to colleagues at work and picked up some good tips – such as using a plasterer’s taping knife and hot water to smooth frosting,”
But not all of the cakes he decorated were smooth sailing.
"I think the most challenging was for my eldest son’s fourth birthday," he divulged. "The request was for a garbage can, and there weren’t many pre-existing ideas online that I could get inspiration from.”

"But after a lot of help from my partner to sculpt fondant trash, the end result was pretty good (at least our 4-year-old thought so). I’m a high school teacher, so a few of us with young kids (or kids that used to be) make our own cakes," he added.
