Could this be the cure we’ve been waiting for? A cancer vaccine is expected to be rolled out by 2030

There’s nothing more stomach-churning and nightmarish than finding out that you or your loved one has been diagnosed with cancer.

As grim as it sounds, most of us are usually forced to accept that it’s a ticking time bomb from there… It’s a terrible illness that has taken the lives of too many people, both young and old. But it looks like there may finally be a light at the end of the tunnel.

Cancer could soon be a thing of the past after medical experts have announced that a new vaccine is set to be rolled out by 2030.

‘We feel that a cure for cancer or to change cancer patients' lives is in our grasp,’ Professor Ozlem Tureci said in an interview over the weekend.

Her husband, Dr Ugur Sahin, who she co-founded the German pharmaceutical company BioNTech with, added that he believes cancer vaccines could be widely available ‘before 2030’.

They initially developed treatments for individualised cancer immunotherapy using mRNA technology. When the COVID-19 pandemic came into the picture, they adapted this technology to create one of the first and most effective vaccines to fight the virus: Pfizer.

Professors Ugur Sahin and Ozlem Tureci said the development and success of their COVID-19 vaccine have boosted their understanding of cancer as well.

‘We have learned how to better, faster manufacture vaccines. We have learned how the immune system reacts. This will definitely also accelerate our cancer vaccine.’

Professor Ozlem said that the developments also helped regulators deal with vaccines. When asked when the jabs could be available, Prof Sahin said they could be released ‘before 2030’.

‘The development of several COVID vaccines in record time showed the possibilities of mRNA vaccine technology, which could one day become an effective treatment to help beat cancer.’ Dr Sam Godfrey, Research Information Lead at Cancer Research UK, said.

‘Just as science was our route out of the pandemic, science is our route to beating cancer. We're optimistic that in the future, we will see mRNA technology and other exciting vaccine approaches, giving doctors more treatment options to help beat cancer.’ Godfrey added.

The slight catch is that the approach won’t come easy. For example, the BioNTech vaccine needs to be custom-designed for each person.

However, a preliminary study in pancreatic cancer suggested that the vaccine might help delay cancer from reoccurring. More research will be needed to perfect it.

‘Every step, every patient we treat in our cancer trials helps us to find out more about what we are against and how to address that.’ Tureci said, before adding a note of caution: ‘We are always hesitant to say that we will have a cure for cancer. We have a number of breakthroughs and we will continue to work on them.’

What a lovely thought that one needle could get rid of cancer

My mums best friend who is only 4 years older than me was told on Friday she may have only 2 days to live.
She had surgery for cancer earlier this year and they thought they got it all.
My mum came to Sydney 2 weeks ago and stayed with her for a week.
Mum said something wasn't right and called her friends brother and told him she needed to see her specialist. Mum suspected the cancer was back.
Mum went back to Taree on the Thursday then the following Tuesday ( last Tuesday) after her friends brother tried unsuccessfully to contact his sister he turned up at hers with the police, when they got inside they found her unconscious on the floor.

She was rushed to hospital, operated on twice and her family were told the cancer was back and had gone to all her organs which are now shutting down.

Her brother called me Friday night as couldn't get through to mum.
He had me on speaker and his sister spoke to me, she sounded so normal, she said ' Suz are you sitting down' she then told me the doctors said she was dying. The following day all her family went to see her including her 90 year old mum who travelled down from Laurieton by this time she was basically unconscious again.

Her sister inlaw took the phone outside and told me they have given her not much time maybe only 2 days.

Cancer is such a horrible illness I have seen many family members and friends die from this disease

I have vacinated all my kids with the normal vaccinations. Except when my daughters were teenagers I couldn't go ahead with the cervical cancer vacination. It was too new and I was worried it would actually put cancer into them.

I had all the covid shots but my daughter who is a nurse said if it wasn't for her job she wouldn't have got it nor would most off the doctors that she works with.

I would have the cancer vacination but would need to look at the side affects and risk..

These scientists need all the help from our government to enable them to do this great work. As a survivor of throat cancer I have experienced it first hand, and have had sone friends that I made while having treatment pass away in spite of the efforts of the caring doctors and nurses doing their best to cure them

I definitely would not get it. Big pharma are more corrupt than ever these days & do not value human life. The covid vaccines have caused a number of deaths & injuries (doctors have been silenced from speaking out except the brave few who were willing to lose their jobs to do so). Now big pharma see how easily they were able to push the experimental MRNA procedure on the population “suddenly” there is a vaccine for cancer. Greed & power at the expense of human life.

I would definitely not get the vaccine. Big pharma is now more corrupt than ever. Many injured or killed by experimental MRNA procedure. They have no regard for human life. “Suddenly” a vaccine for cancer. C’mon. Follow the $$$

Immunotherapy treatment has become a godsend for many cancer diagnoses.
It worked for my mother.
I'm sure the vaccine will be welcomed as well.
With everything in life, we have to weigh up the pros and cons to decide what we do.

There's no "suddenly" about it. Do you realise how long they've been working on this? Do you understand how science works? It can be years of hardly any progress and then a leap forward.
I take it from your comments that you don't take any medicine or pills as these too have been developed by scientists including Big Pharma.
I would love to read the articles about the many killed or injured by the experimental MRNA procedure, maybe you could forward some links.:)

Scientific research is a long, slow, frustrating process.
Clever people dedicate their whole lives to research.....look at the sacrifice Marie Curie made in her discoveries.
I applaud these brilliant minds.
As a cancer victim and victor, I would line up for a cancer vaccine after doing my own research on what they recommend.

My mother had a mastectomy ( both breasts ) followed by chemo & was given a clearance but some 10 years later it returned in her hip & spread from there. A dear friend who had fought cancer for many years passed last year with it. There have been others too. A lady at mosaics has a daughter who just had part of a breast removed with cancer & has just learnt the surgeon didn't get all the cancer. I think the hardest thing is watching those loved ones slowly getting weaker & the daily ups & downs with depression.

A break through for cancer will be very welcomed when it comes.

You can't help but think it's our environment
I've watched too many people as well. My grandfather who was misdiagnosed. My friends daughter at 29 bowel cancer and misdiagnosed she only fought for 4 months far too young.
My best friend had both her breast removed and is now healthy after chemo and radiotherapy
The list goes on . Now my mother's best friend she is 64 and she will be gone any day , she is in RPA and I can't believe they told her brothers to make funeral arrangements and she hasn't passed yet 🥺

Yes, agree. I wonder how much all the chemical products produced for cleaning, the fumes we ingest from aerosols & dusts from fertilizers & the like are doing to our systems in the long run or even short term? When did all these problems start with the Ozone layer?

When I was in my teens I read a science report that stated that 98% of Cancer Tumors opened up had Talc in them and more research needed to be done. That was enough to scare me that I have never used Talcum powder since. I saw it mentioned in another report recently so it's obviously something they're still looking into. I suppose it stands to reason that any fine powder that is ingested settles somewhere inside and irritates the surrounds.:(

My grandmother used talc after every shower and also I remember using it on my first 2 children .
I read an article on how people actually built up so much powder in their lungs that they actually suffercated
