No Dear, come to Bundy and find out. The only ones my carer and I have found lately are from Gloria Jeans that are actually with icecream.
Have only been to Bundaberg once, but didn’t have a milkshake. Must be their special recipe.

I’ve only seen milkshakes made with milk, ice cream and flavoured syrup. Then there’s the option of cream and a scoop of ice cream on top. 🥤

But it’s good you have lovely memories of days gone by. Sad how we’ve “progressed”.

Whenever we came to Perth (from Kununurra) and went into the city one of the first places we went was Coles cafeteria for a pie and chips.

Progressed at a rapid speed BACKWARDS. I'm sure Veggie knows what I'm talking about. Do I have to go to WA to get the shake you speak of? Only State I haven't lived in is WA and NT but visited SA and the longer I live here the worse it gets.

We lived only a few miles from Melbourne, but my best memories were getting a tram to the city with mum and finishing up at Coles cafe for lunch. Excited to be lining up and getting a hot pie and sauce for lunch.. Great memories..
Same for me but I always wanted the sponge cake topped with whipped cream and jelly.

Exaggerating about the “milkshake” aren’t you?
No way. I can remember as a child in Victoria, milkshakes always had icecream and you could get cream as well if you paid extra.
Just came back from NSW where I bought my favourite Dare coffee. What have they done to it, made it with water instead of milk??? It was disgusting.
Glad to get back to WA and get the nice creamy one.
Also at the airport I asked for an iced coffee. I got an ordinary coffee (cold) with a drop of milk plus ice cubes.
Really!! I refused to take it.
WA iced coffee is made with milk. Lashings of soft serve icecream, topped with whipped cream and chocolate. Yes it's expensive but
that's what I call iced coffee.

Mum always took us to the city(Sydney) for the Christmas caves and Santa Claus and part of that very special day was lunch in Cole’s Cafeteria. It was back in the 40’s, 50’s for us and such a wonderful day out. A wonderful day with my beautiful mum, my sister and me.

I would go on a regular basis with my mother-in-law and I would always get the same thing and that was the fish burger, a long bread roll with a battered fish fillet and coleslaw on the bun with a little mayo, my mother-in-law always got that as well with her cup of tea and I had coffee.
In the 60s I remember being little and going with my mum shopping in the city and always ended up at Coles cafeteria. For some reason I was always drawn to the horseshoe bread rolls with black sesame seeds and ham in them and a milkshake.Mum would have sausages peas and mash with gravy......funny as neither of us had or lined both at home, yet ALWAYS AT COLESplus endless cups of coffee,I think you could have as many ias you wanted. On the opposite side of the street was David Jones which I would look through the window down to the lower floor where you could see them making the fresh cookies!!!Mum would always take me down to buy me some warm and wrapped in beautiful thick foil bags.Miss those days and my beautiful dear mum🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺

Sorry ,but I am not an aussie ,I am Australian and back then THEY CALLED IT THE DAVID JONES COOKIE CAVE...🖕

You are right, they were alive with noise, real crockery, and glasses, china for your tea etc,but as a five year old, this seemed really exciting.Everyone was in their finest attire of the day.The joy in simple things is probably what we remember, certainly not the quality food.As I said,we would always order what we normally would never touch our mouths at home,it was just different. At 5 years old and even today,I have never been to a Chinese fish market so can't compare the noise.

NOT IN THE 40'S AND 50'S THEY DIDN'T. I know about the cave because my Mum took my brother and me obviously before you were born and we've been AUSSIES FOR AS LONG AS I'VE BEEN ALIVE. You need to get out and about and learn about the words we use. I've lived in NSW, TASMANIA, VICTORIA and now QUEENSLAND. I have children and grandchildren born in all States thanks to the Army. Look through some cook books from this time and find out when the word "Cookie" first came into use in this country. This came from the Yanks and I'm a very proud AUSSIE from Irish convict stock.
