As of late, a photo of an ordinary box of BBQ-flavoured Shapes has been taking social media by storm!
Can you guess why? It looks pretty normal to us.

Yup, your eyes are not deceiving you, folks. That lady just took a bite out of a box of our favourite BBQ-flavoured snack.
Turns out, the photo of the box of Shapes that has been making its rounds on social media is not made of cardboard but is actually a piece of cake! The bizarre footage has shocked plenty of Aussies online – many were left with their jaws on the floor after seeing how realistic the cake is.
Katie and Tegan are Aussie bakers that are the masterminds behind the bespoke cake company Cake For Days.
They are responsible for making the hyper-realistic Shapes cake and even planted it amongst real Shapes on the supermarket shelves to make the video above.
One of their fans wrote in the comments: “Omg. I actually thought you ate a box!”
Another admitted that they would have never known the box was made of cake after being placed next to the other Shapes boxes.
“Can't wait to see how many kids who love watching your videos walk down the aisles biting into Shapes boxes,” joked a third person.
In the summer of 2020, an influx of videos showing everyday objects, such as vegetables, kitchen appliances, and toilet paper were trending all over the internet.
Why, you ask? Because these items too are actually all made of cake! The videos show them being sliced in half to reveal layers of decadent cake.
These hyper-realistic cakes led people on the internet to popularise a tagline, saying: “Is it cake?” as they slice through various everyday objects and find out whether it’s made of cake or not.
These trends of hyper realistic cakes became so popular that Netflix even made a baking show based on the hype!
In the baking show “Is it Cake?”, talented cake decorators from all over the world are tasked to create hyper-realistic cakes made to look like anything they want – except an actual cake.
Well, there go our trust issues.
