Some semblance of our normal life is finally returning – multiple restaurants, tourist attractions, and other establishments are gradually re-opening their doors to customers and Aldi refuses to be left behind.
The German supermarket giant, best known for their grocery bargains, certainly knows how to live up to their reputation of offering low prices after announcing their latest gimmick.
For two days only, from Friday, July 16 to Saturday, July 17, Aldi will be launching a new posh pop-up bar in Sydney’s CBD that’s perfect for those who aren’t looking to break the bank from a single evening out. You read that right, the terms ‘Sydney’ and ‘cheap’ can, at least this one time, coexist in the same sentence together.
Guaranteed to be one of the best value nights out in the city, diners can get a glass of one of the most prized wines accompanied with a deluxe cheese platter for only $4.41 per person.
The Trophy Room, the name of which was derived due to its number of award-winning wines, gins, and cheeses, is more than your regular inner-city bar.
According to Aldi, everything on The Trophy Room’s menu is priced in a way that’s reflective of the actual cost of the award-winning products if you purchased them and enjoyed them in the comfort of your own home.
“Our wines have been created by some of the best winemakers in the world and judged by the harshest critics to take home many of the most prestigious awards in the industry,” Jason Bowyer, Aldi wine expert and buying director detailed.
“The Trophy Room is a first for Aldi Australia, demonstrating that a fine wine and dining experience doesn’t have to dent your wallet. And what’s even better, you can replicate the exact experience at home,”
“The reality is everyone can have a wine rack and cheese drawer worthy of the title the ‘Trophy Room’ if they shop the products on offer at Aldi,”
“The value in the range is indisputable and I’m excited that we can offer customers this experience, whether that be in our new pop-up bar or in their everyday shop,”
For the low price of $4.41 for the entire night, guests will be greeted with a gin cocktail before indulging in a specially curated dining experience that involves a range of top-notch quality wines and an alluring cheese platter.

If priced individually, the glasses of wine start at $0.83 for a Pinot Grigio, with the most pricey drink on the menu, a Pinot Noir from New Zealand, retailing for $2.49. The beverages are paired with some of Aldi’s best-selling cheeses to snack on, including a Triple Cream Brie that costs $0.56 and a Smooth Blue Cheese for $0.62.
The idea for a budget-friendly pop-up bar came about after a recent study found that 44 per cent of Australians have been discouraged to drop by restaurants and bars in the past year due to the rising cost of living.
Aldi’s recent Price Report 2022 showed that consumers are not only concerned about the affordability of groceries (51 per cent), but also food and takeaway (24 per cent), and alcohol (11 per cent).
So if you’ve been itching for a good time but you only have a certain budget to work with, Aldi has you covered. Tickets will be available starting July 8 at 9 am. You can select a seat and buy tickets by clicking here.
We’ll keep you posted on when these Aldi pop-up bars branch out to other towns and cities.
